In travels to Canada from NY, the tax they charge on some items is refundable. Maybe that's the case for things bought in Germany as well? Dunno. Quick search reveals this, I didn't read through it but preliminarily it sounded like you could get that $ refunded.

I will definitely look in to it, I do believe there is plenty of information out there to DIY

Thanks for prompt reply. There are a number of DIY videos demonstrating removal of the spoiler "fascia", the top of the active spoiler. With the EVO II seems the entire mechanism (Linkage, Actuators, Motors, etc) must be removed leaving only a base plate.
However I've yet to find an example that takes one through a sequence resulting in parts removed as depicted in VarTheVar's post #97.
What I have found is a
that demonstrates the install AFTER active spoiler and mechanism is removed. Would think the EVO II has got to be the same process as the AeroKit install. After the "Delete Active Spoiler" code change and securing any electrical seems the bolt on is straight forward.
Looks like a good DIY opportunity? Or is it?

It certainly does look easy enough to install once the other bits and bobs have been removed from the car.
And getting the coding taken care of as well.
My first step is getting it dropped of for painting next week.
I will see if the body shop will entertain doing the swap out.
Stay tuned...

You'd have to strip the car down to do the test fit and then what ?
You're clearly committed at that point and you have a part that was sent over from Berlin.
The piece does come with all mounting hardware and they state that there is plenty of built in adjustment with the hardware
I'm going for it, the worst that can happen is a minor panel gap issue and I can certainly live with that if everything else is spot on.
I did remember that they sent a link for installation instruction for the ducktail, it's a 22 step process from start to finish and you do need to code out the lift function.
It's an easy DIY if you have the tools and the mechanical aptitude. There is also a good You Tube post where the guy is adding an aero kit to his carrera so you see all the steps needed to remove the factory spoiler, lift mechanism and such.

Well that's interesting and adds another potential wrinkle into the mix.

We are on the same page regarding having to remove the entire active aero spoiler assembly. Don't know if I would call it a total car strip down...but certainly the spoiler is completely removed.
There are photos on the web of an unpainted EVO II installed, not to mention other posters above who have had what looks like successful results. That said once installed the Moshammer looks like a Matte Black Ducktail that's nicely incorporated into the rear deck. Looks "OK", but clearly the best look is to match your body paint.
After reviewing the PDF instruction documentation might just be best to schedule time with the local dealer to complete a code delete, remove the OEM assembly and install the Ducktail. Drive a while with the unpainted version, then deliver to a body shop to remove the Ducktail for paint/then reinstall.
Alternatively if you could post the referenced link...that would be helpful. I saw the "Auto Amateur" install YouTube video on a 991 from two years ago, but that model's OEM spoiler is a different style.
