If you don't smoke, I think the smoking package "free" penholder is pointless. It has a lid on it and makes a pretty ergonomically unfriendly penholder. Some people with manual transmissions said it's good because you can rest your arm on that closed ashtray/penholder thing and, yeah, nobody shifts with their arm in that position so that was a lie too.
So what do I do with that bonus penholder? It just sits in the glovebox where it occasionally rattles. I just ordered a Taycan and I did not get the smoking package b/c that penholder thing is totally useless. For this reason, even though it's a free option, I think the smoking package is frivolous.

You can adjust the lid so that it opens all the way. This is a feature to empty out the ashtray. Dont ask me how to do it though. You'd have to ask my four year old.
Idk which is my favorite but the one I think is the biggest waste are theilluminated tail gills.
Smoking package is a yes because it will be like a tool kit in 25 years when you are selling. It also doesn’t look like an ash tray! I got it. Free is free!
Doesn't everyone just check that box because its free?

The aluminum look gas cap. $160 to add some shiny silver colored plastic to the regular gas cap. Ridiculous, but makes me just a little happy every time I fill up.
The silver parts are metal, you can tell when you touch them. I’m not sure if that justifies a $160 price tag but it’s the option that I instantly thought of when I opened this thread.

Especially for those of us with a GTS, where great pains were taken to turn all silver black. Except the optional fuel cap.
I don’t see any of the options I chose as frivolous. They were all purposeful decisions chosen by me with specific reasons for each one. Same goes for options I didn’t add such as sunroof.
