2024 Allocation Or Defer
As the title states, the dealer just called me and said they have an allocation for me with a delivery in hand by November or December or this year
With it being so close to 2024 and 2025 models releasing - would you defer?

I'd take the allocation and get on a list for a 992.2. If you really like the 992.2, you can use your 992.1 as a trade to move waaaaay up the list for a 992.2
My read is that you are not gonna lose money on a 992.1 when you decide to trade due to allocation backlogs and ever increasing price increases if you take reasonable care of the car.

Take it, or else you’re going to be put on the bull****ter list like 90% of the people on that list.
“Oh I need to check with my wife first, har, har, har.”
Then you’ll be on here moaning about never getting a call because they’re not going to waste their time with you.

I would take the allocation. We are probably at least a year from the very first 992.2 cars arriving stateside, and that would be assuming you received one of the very first allocations. You do not know if you will necessarily like all the changes. There will most certainly be yet another price increase with the 992.2. If you really like the 992.2 then trade your current car in. For me the money loss would not outweigh getting to enjoy the car for probably over a year.

Historically, do they release trim levels on the same timeline as previous years when it comes to .2 refresh?
So they’ll drop the S and Turbo S 992.2 trims for two years, then drop the GTS trim, etc?

I thought they usually staggered them like they do in the initial release for the facelift. However the timeline may be a little faster than when 992 was initially released.

I grabbed it, in my case I didn’t want the price jump and if the .2 turns out to be the cats *** then I have a sweet trade in.

Bird in hand. it can take forever to get an allocation. Also, .2 could be hybrid.

Defer and you’re off the list for good.

Great question as I know someone currently contemplating the same thing. Which model are you considering deferring?
Is that with certainty, especially if one has a rapport with their CA/dealership? Surely someone(s) has actual experience with this?

I think you grab the 24. No one knows exact 992.2 info yet, but we all know it will be more expensive for sure. May as well start enjoying the car sooner than later.

We had a similar choice and went with it. We were going to defer due to options like PTS and PCCB wing unavailable but forged ahead and have a car to enjoy now. Too many u k owns and the 992 is a blast. Build it, enjoy it and get on the list for the 992.2 just in case you find tweaks you’d want to change in a new model.

If you're on the list, then that pretty much sums it up...think about it.
