Default Centerlock verification……

Is there any way to tell from the vin number if a vehicle has Centerlock or 5 Lug wheels ?

GT and Turbo models have center locks. On past GTS you could order it with five lugs. I don’t know if that’s true in the 992 GTS. If so, the build sheet would show it.

Sort of? It's not encoded directly in the VIN, but if you have the VIN you in theory could get the build sheet for the specific car (perhaps via services like this one, for example, which I have never used and have no idea whether or not they do what they say).

The model is encoded in the VIN and so you would know whether or not the centerlocks were standard equipment, but you wouldn't know if the car was optioned differently. For example, someone tracking a GT3 a lot might have opted for 5-lug wheels to make removing the wheels trackside easier.

Don't think GT cars have 5 lug as an option. GTS does.

...but I could be misinformed.

Thanks for the replies, I have the build sheet on hand but it does not specify Centerlocks as standard or 5 Lugs optional equipment. The vehicle is a GTS for more clarity.

When I was shopping for my car a couple years ago, a local dealer sent me an incoming GTS build sheet asking if I was interested. The build sheet listed the 5-lug Spyder RS designed wheels as a no cost option.

Speaking to the GTS model here: I wager a guess and say if you do not see an option line for a specific wheel, then the car comes with the standard CL wheels.

So on the GTS (992 for example), Its standard to centerlocks. I believe that if some one changed the wheels as an option, it would state the optional wheel on the build list right? Any other wheel that is "non-GTS' would then be a 5-lug, I would assume.

On 992 GTS default is CL. The build sheet will list the different wheel if optioned. Any optioned wheel will be 5 lug.

The pressure is intense these days, the car was sold within 24 hours of me posing the question to the dealer with no reply. They were probably in negotiations prior to me sharing interest. #Nohardfeelings
