Default Need feedback - fuel consumtion 992 4S

Hello everyone,

Just got my first 911 a few months back - an used 4S with about 50k miles on it. Still has the factory warranty and the price was good so i went for it. There is one main thing that bugs me (for the others i found answers here). The fuel economy seems way of - and i'm just concerned there might be something off with the engine.
  • around the city i get on average 25 l/100KM - about 9.4mpg (US) - driving it moderate - just in nomal mode - if i go into sport it's about 30-32l/100km. - 7.3 mpg (US)
  • on highway - the lowest i got with a cruising speed of 130km/h (80mph) is 11.5l/100km - 20.5 mpg (US)
Is this similar to what ur getting? Just wanted to check before going to the dealership with it.

Thanks!

C2S with 18,000 miles

80% Sport and 20% Normal, Manual mode shifting on PDK with 50% highway and 50% city with a lot of redline runs and I average 17mpg. Highway only 25-30mpg.

9mpg or less with just moderate driving is absurdly low.

I have a 2023 Carrera T and I averaged 8.7 mpg in a 3 day on track high performance driving school at Watkins Glen going no slower than 40 mph. On the hwy I'm good for 28.3 @ 80 mph.

The snarky Rennlist response would be, "yes, you're driving it like it was meant to be driven."

The IRL response would be, "no, that's not normal."

That's normal for my Hummer, but not for a modern 992 911.

Seems a little low.

I'm 10k in. Daily driver. 75% highway, 25% city. Sport+ 9/10 times.

My average is around 24mpg. C2GTS 7 speed manual. The best was 32mpg (all highway).

That's pretty awful. Most of my driving is my commute to work on surface streets, with lots of stop lights and sitting around. On my commute, even in sport mode (thus with auto-start-stop disabled) and with the M-Engineering tune (which cut my mileage a good bit), I still get 11-15mpg. On highways without the tune I saw up to 31, and with the tune it's still 26-28.

10k miles on C4S and my overall average is 22.8. it'll dip down to 15 mpg on a canyon run. 19 mpg around town and 30 on a highway cruise.

Definitely low. C2S here, so maybe fewer drivetrain losses, but I'm low 22's on average. Mid-teens when I'm on it, pushing 30 mpg highway cruising.

You've got a lot of miles on your ride. When was the last time someone looked at the air filter and spark plugs?

Maybe stop towing your camping trailer with it?

New C4S here. 850 miles in, so haven't brought to red line...yet, and I'm averaging 18.5 m.p.g.

Wasn't able to get under 20mpg on highway over a 35mile trip even at a constant speed of 65mph 😅

Had it checked about 1 month ago and did the oil change and air filter at the dealership - spar plugs they said are still good and everything is fine with the car...

Def giving them a call tomorrow -

You don't happen to have a teenage driver in the household siphoning off fuel from your car, do you?

I went in to the detail data in the My Porsche app going back to when I picked up my 992 base cab last November.

For short trips around town driving in sport mode I’m getting between 7 and 9 mpg. For longer highway drives I’m getting between 25 and 27 mpg.

My Porsche records your fuel consumption, distance traveled and average speed for every trip you make.

Ive attached a screen shot of a sample trip.

Thank you for taking the time. Short trips do indeed tend to use more fuel as the engine hasn't got sufficient time to warm up.

10 miles in an hour? What level of hell was that?
