USAA with a $1K deductible costs $810 for six months for a 2022 C2 in Atlanta, GA. I checked the Porsche Insurance rates and they were within a few dollars of USAA.

Progressive. Unsolicited tips for being a better risk to underwriting: high deductibles, no reported at fault accidents, clean driving and criminal record, good credit rating, senior citizen, more cars insured than drivers insured and umbrella policy. Also, re- analyze your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage as this is where my premium jumped most. Shop around at every renewal although many insurance companies offer a healthy multi-year discount to preferred customers.

Is this coverage for a guaranteed $ amount?

Thanks
This question is impossible to answer without any context; age, driving record, coverage amounts, deductible amount, UnInsured Motorist/Supplemental Underinsured amount and credit rating. My insurance went down $1100/year when I went from a BMW 650 Gran Coupe to my Carrera T without making any changes to my policy: $1000 deductible for collision, $1M Bodily Injury; $1M SUM/UM; full glass no deductible, and $150K No Fault vs. $50K. I live in WNY, spotless license with no tickets in years, good credit rating, 63 y.o., married, no kids/drivers under 25.

One important note: check your state's Insurance Dept for records relative to a carrier's history of paying claims, there should be a rating there. Progressive, GEICO, AllSnake, Snake Farm all suck in NY, ditto NYC Mutual. USAA, AAA typically score highest. You don't need an agent, look online for a quote but if you're in NY, you need to ensure your Bodily Injury Limits are high so you can get high Supplemental Underinsured Motorist coverage in the same amount. Example, I have tried over 100 auto crash claims and every single time, the punk in the Camaro has spent every nickel he has on his car and insurance is last on his priority list. If I got in a collision with a guy with $50K limits (minimal required in NY) and am extremely injured or even killed, the max amount I could recover is $50K if my SUM is $50K as well. However, I have $1M SUM coverage so Punk has his $50K, I get his $50K then proceed against my carrier for the difference of $1M-50,000=$950,000 in arbitration.

If Erie Insurance serves your state, you guys should give them a call, as most of you are getting robbed in the midwest, or the screwed up and gave me cheap rates for the past year.

I love Progressive, but they do get a little queasy if the value of your vehicle is approaching $150k and depending upon the car, you may have difficulty getting underwriting above that amount.

I am a huge Progressive fan. I had two claims simultaneously with them on two separate vehicles — neither my fault — and they were awesome. That said, when my Taycan got totaled it took a lot of extra layers of approval for that check to be cut due to it being north of that queasy range. Something to be aware of.

If your Father “owns many a Porsche”, you likely had some advantages that you don’t fully realize or appreciate yet. Congrats on your impending purchase and the work that you did to get there. 👍

If you go to the dealer for service/maintenance, the insurance companies are also notified via Carfax.
