I think the windows down with key fob can be programmed. I have not seen a remote start for the 992. It’s a euro thing. They are very much against needlessly idling vehicles there.

Yes, this option can be coded and has been done to my 23 992 S4 Coupe. Roof opens and closes as well. My car is a USA model and does not require a new key fob. Contact 9xx.com if interested.

Top down cannot be programmed. That is why smartop exists (and works great)

crap! Somebody better tell BMW, and Mercedes, and VW, cause they all offer it!!!
In all seriousness,
while illegal in Germany, there is no reason Porsche and Audi can’t offer it on their automatic cars here in the States. But, judging on how the info/tech of our cars feels like it is from the mid 80s, I suspect they don’t have the best people working in that department. The good ones are all over in chassis tuning
and yes, lack of remote start on the Macan is one of the reasons I have an X3 (the $20k price delta didn’t help either)

Didn’t know that about BMW and Mercedes, never even thought to buy one before so wasn’t on my radar, but do know when going to EU they don’t idle their cars.
I can see them wanting to avoid a bunch of rennlist threads on how crummy the remote start feature is and how it barely works. I rather enjoyed the remote start via the app on my Raptor. I would fire the truck up while paying the bill or something and truck is cooled down and nice when I get to it. It worked 100% of the time as well.

I think that is a valid point - they would screw it up
and while cooling down a hot car/truck is nice - let me tell you, getting into one with a defrosted windshield and toasty seats/steering wheel in the middle of a Chicago winter is saweeeet too.....
the factory remote start on my 2020 c63 was a little strange, it could only be started remotely from the phone app, and the engine shut down when you open the door to get in, so it was really just for warming up i guess
They don’t offer it, because idling your engine in the driveway is a terrible way to warm up your car. The best way to do it is to gently drive off right after you start up.
Considering Porsche’s past history with borescoring, it is no surprise that they don’t offer it — a cold started 911 engine idling in the driveway for 10 minutes isn’t a great thing.
Add in that this habit is smoking hot garbage for CO2 emissions. You won’t see it coming from Porsche.

Mercedes security thing. They all do it. You get used to it then encounter a car that doesn’t stop when you open the door and it feels weird.

This is true for me also. Same reason I bought an X5 for the wife because she had to have the remote start to warm up the car interior in the winter.
I had an M4 previously and you can "code" on a lot of stuff in the BMW's that is there from factory but turned off for the US. Things like the mirrors folding in and out, the adaptive headlight tech and force brake flashing when the brake light flashes repeatedly when you brake hard.
Plenty of cool stuff with an ODBII adapter and a laptop. I wonder if there's something similar with the P cars.
That is really annoying there is no option. German engineers should spend a few weeks in FL during August.
They'll tell you to buy a Taycan or the Macan EV. If warming up or cooling your car is the thing, EVs are significantly better at it. When you remote activate the heat on our Mini Cooper EV exiting a store, the car is HOT by the time you get to the car. My wife has never had to use an ice scraper with that car.
