Default Steering column rebate revisited

I had a May 2022 allocation and June build for my Carrera GTS. Delivered in September 2022. The car did not have the electric steering column. I was told a retrofit or rebate would be forthcoming. Porsche chose not to retrofit and announced they would offer a $1000 rebate instead. No rebate came. I sent a letter to the company managing the rebate with my VIN and they replied they had "thoroughly searched our records, and we are unable to locate a record for you in this settlement."

Was there a cut off (production, delivery, VIN associated?) date after which Porsche wasn't going to offer the rebate? Porsche NA is of course utterly useless. Asking my SA if he knows anything. The rebate site https://electricsteeringcolumnoptionreimbursement.com/ is worthless.

I think that all the lesser 911’s are now manual adjustment. Turbo’s and limited editions still get electric adjustment with memory.

They announced that ‘23 and newer wouldn’t get electric steering columns as far as the Carrera lineup is concerned. Turbo and Turbo S would receive it, though. They made this announcement officially on the configurator so they’d no longer have to offer vouchers.

My car was delivered in June 2022 and my steering column adjustment was retroactively changed from electric to manual. I did not receive a settlement check either. The dealer just deducted an equivalent amount off the agreed purchase price.

Your production/delivery timeline is very similar to my 22 Base Cab. I never received any rebate and communicated/corresponded with many PCNA folk including messages directed to CEO. They consistently said my car wasnt eligible for rebate but never told me why. I finally gave up. I am left to assume that at some point Porsche made a decision that electronic steering adjustment would no longer be included in memory package and just pocketed the savings. Very poor customer relations imo. It probably cost them more to address my inquiries and leave me po'd than to do what was right.

I wonder if I could qualify for a rebate on a technicality. I ordered a 22 in July with the 18 way seats thinking it had an electric steering column and was pushed to a 23 and price protected at the 22 price.

I do not have the energy or desire to pursue this, but was curious if I would qualify for the rebate based on the fact I selected the 18 way seats with the presumption that it had an electric steering column at that time.

I think it all depends on the date you ordered your car and what the Porsche Configurator said on that exact day. I ordered and contracted my car when the configurator stated that the 18 way sport seat package specifically included electric steering column adjustment. So, Porsche needed to compensate me because it RETROACTIVELY changed the contract. Porsche deducted a set amount from my agreed purchase price accordingly. But at some point, Porsche modified the configurator to remove representations concerning electric adjustment on certain models as Shrimp Money notes. I doubt Porsche is compensating for any orders after the false statements were changed in configurator. Just guessing here, but you might be able to use a “Wayback” search engine to review the configurator on the date of your order maybe?

Similar situation although slightly later. My Targa 4S allocation came through in September 2022. My SA initially wasn't sure whether I would be getting a 2022 or a 2023. Then he confirmed it would be a 2023. I had also ordered the 18-way seats with the presumption that it had an electric steering column.

Does that mean that 2022 GTS with electronic steering are rare?

I do not think so. Probably half the 2022 Carrera production line had electric steering column adjustment. I think the supply chain issue with it started around Feb-Mar 2022….. if I remember correctly.

I ordered my car in June of 22 and in Aug of 22 I received the car. I got 500 dollars for the steering column being Manual. I believe most got offered 500, on both my 922s I ordered in MY 2022 (Feb-May) I got 500 back on both cars.

I contacted Porsche NA and was informed the price was adjusted on the car before it was delivered. The selling price was lowered due to the shortage of the components. No rebate via check.

I say BS on price adjustment. Mine didn’t go down one cent. I think Porsche just made a little more profit on my deal
