Default Headlight lens (only?) replacement

My apology if this topic has been addressed before, as I saw postings about total headlight replacement, refinishing to remove cloudy lenses and application of PPF, but don’t think I saw anything about replacing just the lenses.

The lenses on my 2020 are still clear but they’re pitted from road debris. A search looks like there aren’t any OEM replacements for just the lens, but there are quite a few on eBay. Has anybody tried these, and is it really a part that can be removed and replaced and then “glued” back securely? I’m sure the current pitting has some impact on the actual lighting, but it’s really just the aesthetics of it that seem to be bothering me, especially when the lights are on and the pitting really visible.

Thank you!

It is certainly possible to replace the lens, provided you can find a replacement. Plenty of YouTube vids out there for install guidance.

Thanks @22992 - I looked at a couple of videos on removal of the headlights and comments about how difficult it is to remove the lens, so I’ve now decided that when it gets to the stage of super-annoyance I’ll probably just get entirely new units!

two weeks into owning my car, a bird decided to eat something from the road. It caused a big crack. even though I had a pretty thick ppf on the headlight

the dealership quoted me
4,697.44$ to replace one whole headlight, as a repair / lens replacement was "not possible".

This is exactly why one should PPF their headlights.

I have had only one experience with an aftermarket lens (a non Porsche) was not satisfied at all. So my advice is to suck it up and buy an entire headlight unit, or source a part from from Gopart.

@ipse dixit - I’m not sure why the prior owner didn’t do that, but at least they optioned the car with things I like!

Replaced both both headlight lenses on my 997 using the lenses from ebay (~$400/set) and with the help of a few youtube vids. The Ebay lenses look exactly like OEM.

We are planning to offer our cover replacement services for the 992 models soon.
Check in with us when you reach the stage of said "super-annoyance" :-)

Thank you! As a stop gap from them getting any worse I’m having PPF applied along with some other stuff. It really would though be nice to have new pristine lenses

Should be able to offer them for the same price as the 991 models... $950 for a pair of headlights renewed, return shipping included.

That’s fantastic. Along the way if any installers in the Los Angeles area crop up, that would be any better!

How do we know when a lens needs to be replaced vs we can sand/polish the lens to get a little more mileage out of it?
