what we do ...
I believe you are referring to my 1st ordered 992 S. At delivery the car had 16 miles on it. I drove it about 10 miles and then heard a strange engine rattle. Took it back to the dealership and they found metal shavings in the oil. Engine shot with about 26 miles on the car. Obviously something wasn't right from the factory. I opted for a Porsche buy back. Anyway, my 2nd 992 S sunk in the Atlantic on the Felicity Ace. But the 3rd is the charm as its in my garage and I've put 4k miles on it in the past 6 months.

Those you who have heard of catastrophic engine failure requiring a new engine, what have you heard on the warranty to follow? Did those owners recieve a full 2yr factory warranty or just a discretional 1year warranty? Any pointers?

^ I agree that a 1 yr warranty on a brand new engine sounds inadequate.

Similar thing happened to a friend with a new Cayenne Turbo S last year. New motor and extended warranty.

Warranty doesn't toll, so you aren't entitled to a warranty beyond the expiration date of your existing 2 year warranty, They are gong beyond what is required. On the bright side, the chance that you'd have a second engine failure is astronomical. How long are they telling you it will take to receive the car back?

When my engine needed a replacement, Porsche offered me two scenarios. 1. Install a new motor and then a CPO 2 yr warranty after original warranty expired. 2. Buy back vehicle and order a new one. I chose #2.
