Thx, but it really only consumes a few hours of my time each week, so in the grand scheme of things, it’s not much and I should do more.
What I have come to realize (same was true with my dad who died alone in his house in San Diego)….. the biggest issue for many of these folks is loneliness. Most have no family, or a family that only visits a couple of times a year from out of state. Outside of that, their daily companion is the TV. Pretty sad. The best thing I can do for them is take the time to sit down and just talk with them to see how they are doing, and offer to do any minor chores. Something as simple as changing a light bulb is something many can’t do on their own, so they really appreciate doing anything for them. .

I don’t think there are that many variants:
Carrerra
Turbo
GT
Dakar
All otters are not variants in my view but simple configurations (maybe GT2 RS could be added for race applications) and maybe special editions including the sport classic. And you could argue even the Carrera and Turbo are just config and not variants but can see where these are classified as variants.

Porsche has multiple variants of each of its 6 models, but only has 6 models. Other manufactures have many more models: BMW has 18, Audi has 15 and MB over 30 models. From a manufacturing perspective, it probably far more efficient to have many variants of fewer models than to have fewer variants of a higher number of models.

As for Dakar, world of possibilities.
Dakar T
Dakar S
Dakar GTS
Dakar Turbo
Dakar Turbo S
Dakar Cabriolet
Dakar Cabriolet ...
(so many possibilities)

They need more production capacity for the 911. At this point, the long lead times are costing them sales. Yes I know they sell every one they can make, but the point is that they are losing many customers who can't/won't deal with the wait times, and customers who give up and buy another brand car is a net lost sale that Porsche is never getting back.

“According to EV website Electrifying.com, customers placing an order in January 2023 will be waiting an average of 28 weeks for a new electric car, down from the average 35 weeks in October.”
So, average of about 7 month wait. While not as long as waits for 911’s, still pretty long. I waited 8-9 months for my 992 in 2021, with a 6% discount. As far as I am aware, the only “discounts” on EV’s are the federal tax incentive on only US made EV’s….
The drop in wait times for EV’s, is a result of manufacturers ramping up production, and more EV models coming to market (I think 23 at last count)…so demand is spread out over a lot of different manufacturers.

The special wishes department did a Targa with a GT3 engine a few years ago. Gotta leave something for the VIP of VIPs.

Targa cars are produced in such small quantities that it likely has more to do with homologation costs. It's not like the TT/TTS are lightweight cars and they already do cabrios.

That’s true. Well they keep coming up with sold out before announcement specials so maybe they will make a Limited Run Turbo S Targa to celebrate some milestone in the future.

Sorry but a Targa and Convertible are no variants for me...they are all just Carrerra's with a different "roof". Dakar is just one option to my knowledge.

Not sure what “speaks volumes” means to you, but demand for EV;’s is still strong for now..unless the economy tanks.

Not to diverge, but as Al Gore would say, “An inconvenient truth”. 😎

There would be no NA GT3 without the Taycan bringing down the CO2 fleet numbers.
