Hi everyone, just wanted to get some expert thoughts. I am on the waitlist here in Edm Canada for a Carrera S. Hopeful to get my build slot late this year. We have a 2 Cayenne history with dealership. I was in getting a service and started chatting with the manger. He is great and very helpful. After a short chat I asked about my potential time frame for the S, but also hinted at I'd really rather get a GTS. Follow up phone call today and he asked me to at least send him my build for the GTS, but then did say he had an available Carrera T. This would be my first 911, I do have small kids so would include the back seats. I also would likely not get the race bucket seats. I am not sure if and when I would get the GTS, but I feel confident in saying I could at least build my S late this year or early next. Would any of you pull the trigger on the T over the S is essentially my question. Thanks in advance.
Purely depends on how fast of a car you want and if you plan on tuning it. Have you driven a base vs S or GTS? Are you satisfied w/ the performance of the base? If so the T is the obvious choice. If you want as much performance as possible or plan on tuning the car the S/GTS have larger turbos and significantly more headroom.
Then there are other things like do you like the T interior and T specific options, are you looking for aerokit? Aerokit availability is hit or miss on T S and GTS models at various times throughout the year.
All 992s are excellent cars and I’d be happy with any of them. But if you wanted an S for the added performance then stick with the S or GTS or you may have buyers remorse.
The savings on a T are not significant, and if you are not getting any of the exclusive T options (lwb) it really makes no sense. To me anyways. Also, it seems much easier to get a T allocation.
My car should be arriving at the Edm dealership this week after a long journey.
The better question is, Do you actually care what trim of a 911 you get?
If you don't (and there's nothing wrong with that), then just get the T as it means you'll get the car sooner, and it'll also most likely be the least expensive, ceteris paribus.
If I wanted a MT, I would consider the T or an S. If I wanted a PDK, I would only consider the S. As others mention, your option choices on a T are much more limited than on an S. But, if I bought a T, it would be a stripper with MT so options would not matter to me. Really do not want a lithium battery either. But that’s just me. Your opinion may differ.

Couple quick thoughts to share: if you were considering to order GTS with LWBs and other lightweight options I'd go for a T. If not then S brings more to the table (more power, bigger brakes, etc.). With recent price increases the T is no longer a bargain and can only be justified (in my opinion) with minimal options. But...minimal options have a downside as you'd relegate yourself to staring at plastic dashboard and door cards for as long as you own the car. I'm leaning towards the S unless buckets are must have option for you.

Here are a few thoughts for you. I will not comment on the GTS because I do not have interest in that variant at all. I had a Carrera S allocation and switched over to the Carrera T when one became available. The package offered for the T is excellent for the price and a good savings compared to the S depending on how you would build your S. This is mostly a street car for me, so I did not want larger turbos or need the power increase of the S. And I liked the lighter-weight options on the T. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. If you have a Carrera S allocation, and you would prefer a GTS, your dealer should be able to trade because there have seemingly been many more GTS allocations than S allocations. But I would jump on that T. Bird in the hand, as was said above. Good luck!

Do you want to decide based on availability or your needs/wants? If based on availability, you're answered your own question. If based on needs/wants, perhaps clarify what they are so you can get better advice.
I think most people make a decision based on emotion and then find ways to justify it.
haha. Spot on. That is what Rennlist is all about. I call it “Rennlist Logic”. Read some of the threads involving “RWS and Lithium batteries” , “ PDK v. MT” or, my personal favorite, “What is the best oil?”
I wanted the GTS and waited 6 months and never moved on the list and jumped on the T when it was announced. I think if you are going for Manual the T is great. I have no regrets on my T.
with T you are getting an S Chassis/Suspension/Transmission with a base engine and brakes and MT.... so if the more powerful S engine does not appeal to you, T is the way to go.. I agree with the comment that if you going to load up the T with options you might as well get an S. Also the T comes with some standard stuff (agate grey wheels, side mirror, rear Porsche sign, lower suspension, decal on doors, leather front seat with Sport-Tex, etc etc) that in my estimation if you wanted the exact same things on an S it would be around a $7k added options to an S... BUT you have to like and want these options on the T otherwise not worth it.. meaning you have to like Agate Grey wheels and side mirror, or black interior, etc.... if for instance you want beige or red interior for sure you cannot get it in the T. my 2 cents... thank you...
