Don't you have to go to an AAA shop though? I don't have centerlocks.

I first got this advice from one of the bimmerpost thread long ago but it had worked well for me - for more "economical" tire insurance, with your new car go to the local America's Tire / Discount Tire to buy their tire certificate for ~$50 a tire, which covers any damage for the life time of the tire. Even without the certificate they will patch most flat for free. Then when you need new tires just go buy them from TireRack (owned by America's Tire now) which come with road hazard insurance included. Of course this won't cover wheel damages but that would be a low probability event for most.
In reality rear tires on these cars won't last that long if you drive a lot, and this route would make sense especially if you have Pirelli or Goodyear and want to switch out for Michelin ASAP

The AAA garages around here, I wouldn't let them remove a wheel from my car or put it on one of their lifts. No way. Same goes for any chain tire place - Mavis, Goodyear, etc.

No. The policy is sold by AAA, but it is underwritten by Fortregra. The policy states that if you have a failure you should "take your vehicle to any state licensed repair facility." I noticed the bubbles in the tire in my garage so I called them, and they told me to take it to Mavis discount tire, which is a local tire shop. They may have suggested that because it is the closest tire place to my house, when I told them about the center locks they said I could take it to the Porsche dealer and they would approve a new tire.

You take the vehicle to the dealership, let your service advisor know you have Fidelity warranty coverage, then your service advisor and Fidelity take it from there.

That sounds about right - we have it on our daily driver Macan. We’ve probably used it 4-5 times, and our best local paint shop charges $500 to refinish a badly scraped wheel.

For my 964, which is not a daily driver, I do without. 17” wheels are also less vulnerable.

I think in some cases the insurance works out, but its just a numbers game, more buy and dont use the full amount than buy and use the full amount of more. Because its always a negotiation whilst at the dealer i don't like it.
i have bought it under certain circumstances, i paid $800 at a Jeep dealer for key/PDR and wheel 2020 was one of those i know your best buddy so im giving you the my cost price, i think it was.. never used it... traded in the jeep after 60,000 miles

I was offered it at the Porsche dealer and it was super expensive, so i declined... i might regret it... but as i was financinga portion of the car it didnt make sense for me, that bull**** of its only $20 more a month on your note drives me insane... then your price is not 4 grand its 4 grand financed which is a lot more.. if you cant pay cash for the price of the insurance it aint 4 grand...

Just picked up my 911T today. I negotiated the tire/wheel/dent/key warranty to $2k for 36 months. I think that’s fair.

That was a good deal, did you pay ADM for that T? I paid MSRP for my S so I didn't feel too bad paying for the warranty.

I did… they started at $20k over on the T and $58k on my trade in (22 m3 with 27k miles). Final was $5k adm and $65k for my m3. I think overall that was fair considering there aren’t many manuals available for sale and no (so far) manuals for 25. CPO 992s are still selling for over msrp here in Florida
