Default Cultural Shock in the 992 Forum

Umm... I don't know how to say this but I just bought two 992's after resisting for a long time as a 991 purist (I know it's an oxymoron but I love the 991).
So as a result I've hanging out a bit in the 992 forum.
All I can say is that it has a different flavor/ambience than the older 991 forums or am I imagining things?
Folks seem to be a little harsher, less tolerant, maybe a few more newbies and a lot more intolerance of others' differing opinions...
Weird... is all I can say.
Maybe paying all those ADM's selects for a harsher environment ?
Peace and love to you all...

New model forum - people want opinions on purchase prices, ADMs and configuration. Break in questions. This vs that.

The prev gen forum - talking sh*t about the new model (sometimes accurately, sometimes unfairly), discussing resale value, threads about real mods start popping up.

Old gen forum - tech dense and very cliquey. Threads on how to rebuild an NLA steering rack and engine out refreshes. Modifications get very involved at this point. More recently, value threads.

Lots of turnover in the new model forum - at times it’s just a waiting room for people who have a build on order. Once they get their car, they disappear.

having had the last few generations... When you get so many of the same questions 2000 times when everyone is getting a 992 delivery, and are noobs.. You get a little less tolerance feeling. Give it two years, and it will settle down like the 991.1, 991.2 and before did.

Take a look at how many active and new posters here on the 992 forum, and that will answer the question. Lots more questions (many the same) many new owners, or new to 992 - lots of new variances to the 991 (which is expected)... The 991 forum is pretty settled. I actually like the activity, it is pretty cool when you just get your new 811 (many for the first time) and have a tone of questions. Worth bearing with it, and if you choose not to answer or participate and only read, that is cool.

Eat **** jerk…

just kidding.

I haven’t noticed anything abnormal. There are always “those guys” on an Internet forum. For the most part people here are pretty cool.

No patience or manners anymore in our society. Try teaching a kid to drive nowadays if you think it’s tough in the chat room.

I actually want to clarify - I like all the new questions, even if a repeat.. That is the fun of a new 911 generation. Many new owners, sometimes first timers that haven't read every post on the forum from the 996 generation onward.. Sometimes there are the same questions and I choose not to even look, as I know someone that has been on a while will point them to the answer. But that is part of the excitement of a new generation of both 911's and owners.

This 100%. Over the years, I got to watch the Alfa 4C forums go from builds and delivery dates to people searching for parts and detailed technical advice.

The non-Tesla EV forums are an even more abrupt transition, because there's no break-in period or oil change intervals to argue over, potential modifications are so limited, "no user serviceable parts inside" limits actual tech discussions, etc. The RennList Taycan sub-forum is basically a ghost town for a car that sells in significant numbers.

I was gonna say... you think its bad here?! Check out this peach of a GT3 thread https://rennlist.com/forums/992-gt3-...stop-sale.html

Also, its just the internet dude. People have a level of anonymity and so some are a little tougher than real life. Ask your questions and don't take anything personally.

I occasionally visit the 991 forum and my observation is that since the 991 is made up of older cars, the forum has more repair type issues/questions than the 992 forum.

Except I think the 991 forum was more “involved” from the start (I went from a ‘13 981s to a ‘15TT in 2014-15, so a couple years after 991 intro). Far more DIY, etc than here considering we’re about ready for the 992.2 gen.

And society has changed, which is easy I suppose.

Excellent forum when people are asking experience with specific features ...perfect post this AM showing side view of FAL on and off to answer a previous question....but then there are the endless posts/polls on "do you like this color" or "what stitching do you like"... etc..It continues to amaze me that people are ordering cars based on others' preferences.
