Need to vent
Alright - getting annoyed at the whole process. Need to vent, bare with me, or bash.
Decided in mid 2021 that I'm going to get a 992 GTS as my first 911. Put in my deposit at a few dealers and was prepared to wait.
Ended up buying a pre-owned 992 C2S cab at one dealer in early 2022 - well over MSRP for used car - was advertised I would be able to get my allocation by the end of the year. Spec is nice but the car is a short-term plan to enjoy the cab life before getting my dream car.
Ended up getting the GTS allocation in early 2023 - was dead set on the lightweight package (bucket seats) - by that point I had gone through the online spec too many times to count and have this dream GTS in mind. However, bucket seats are unavailable now so passed on allocation to remain first in line for next allocation with bucket seats.
Recently saw people being able to get their GTS orders through with bucket seats. Dealer insisted those were still unavailable.
MY24 comes early. 9500 increase... Come in to value my trade to see how big the blow is - C2S is worth 25k less in trade in. Check if GT3 is an option, 75k ADM ask.
I know at this point I should just put the money for GTS MY24 or GT3 but I try to keep my financial discipline instead of blowing money on cars. The frustrating part is that I live in an area where dealers have the demand for these cars with people walking in and paying over MSRP, which makes the whole process frustrating when I see what others on this forum are experiencing.
At this point, I would just be happy if I can get the MY23 price for my GTS with bucket seats. That would close this long wait for me without feeling like I got robbed along the way. Heck, I would like with a GT3 with 50-60k ADM.
Nevermind the rant. I love Porsche , I just wished the process to get a car didn't suck so bad.

It sucks, but the GTS is low on the priority list for Porsche to get buckets, only above the T.
Buckets have always been like this - even back in ‘16 when I got a GT4 it is was a crap shoot whether you could get an allocation with buckets. If buckets are a must have (and I wouldn’t blame you if they are) then I’d focus on the GT3.
Cheapest I’m seeing low mile CPO 992 GT3 run is ~$250k which is in your price range at <50k above sticker.

I've been eyeing a 992 GT3 in my area that has around 5k miles on it. It's going for $43k over. Granted, this is a 2022 model, so after you factor in the price hikes, it's around a $21k ADM for a car with 5k miles on it. I'm seriously considering it and wondering if it's a good price.
I would take a $12k dunk on my 2022 992 GTS with 4k miles on it as well, so the effective ADM would be around $55k.
To the OP's point, I hear you. The buying experience really sucks with Porsche. For those of us without a "giggle box" (as one of the SAs I met described a rich client of his), there's two ways to think about it: (1) frustrating experience and (2) thrill of the hunt. I definitely lean towards the former, but know there are folks who opt for the more positive viewpoint...

I would agree the overall buying experience sucks. Long wait. I'm still pissed about not having the electric steering column. It just feels cheap.
I do love the car so it's a great drive. But who knows, life evolves and maybe the thrill will fade and I'll get a diff sport car. Just enjoy the experience and the moment as much as you can.
To be honest, life even beyond Porsche entirely feels this way. Everything in the service industry sucks in my opinion and it's rare to have a good experience where someone doesn't make a mistake.
I feel I have to keep an eye on things all the time to make sure there is no **** up

Why not just buy the GTS without buckets and swap out for some Recaro Carbon Fiber race buckets? Who cares if they are actual Porsche buckets or not. With a high demand car like this with limited allocations I wouldn't give one up for something you can readily get in the aftermaket... Just my $0.02.
What do you consider low mile for a 992 GT3?

My ‘19 had 8k miles, for frame of reference, when I bought it. You want the car to have *some* miles. A car with super low miles can be more trouble than a car that was driven. Add CPO and it’s a no brainer. You get a basically new car with extended warranty at a better price and you get it NOW.
$43k over for a low miles CPO 992 GT3 doesn’t sound terrible, as crazy as that may sound. Of course I paid well over original sticker on a four year old Touring, so I’m not the best judge of these things.

Had a 981 GT4 and after a few years, I got tired of the LWB's even though I fit them well.. Was able to obtain an allocation for an October GT3 Touring build, MY 23 and spec it the way I wanted.
I chose the 18 ways and havent looked back. Combined with the Pirelli PZeroes, I feel like my GT3 Touring is much more compliant and not nearly as stiff or harsh as my GT4.
Buckets are cool looking, but the 18 ways are real world amazing! Just my 2 cents.

I’d consider 5k low miles.

Doesn't sound awful. With that said GT3 isn't a panacea. The motor is sublime but tractability is no where near as good as the twin turbo. The suspension is much stiffer and here in Souther California would be unlivable. I was really on the fence to get a GT3 versus the GTS I ordered but decided that for me that mostly will drive this on the street the GTS is the much better choice. With that said the GTS is no where near as cool as the GT3.....

It's a race car for the street. It is more crashy then the GTS from my limited time behind both wheels. It is on par with my GT350 (their spring rates are pretty close to one another on the front. GT350 much higher in the rear) which I do drive on the street but would never want to as a daily... I don't think the GT3 Touring or otherwise is just a practical daily driver. It isn't even great as an occasional driver if you have crappy roads. When I drive my GT350 is is typically on roads I know that are in good condition.

Final update - let go of the GT3 allocation - couldn't justify to myself going 70k over for a MY23.
I'm also passing on GTS with 10k increase.
I guess I'll try to enjoy the cab a few more years.
