With PDK, if your cruising in 8th gear and you let off accelerator and upshift, the car will disengage the transmission and coast. As soon as you give any throttle, the PDK does its thing and selects the right gear. This is NOT the same as pulling both paddles. When you pull both, and you want to go back in gear, simply giving it throttle wont re-engage. You have to pull one of the paddles first.

I just have to put the handbrake on manually, and then when I accelerate away the handbrake automatically disengages without my needing to use the handbrake switch.
Which is fine...but then why do I have HOLD?

My question as well. I have a manual car. I have a HOLD light, but I can't get the function to work.

True but not on all inclines, for the life of me I don't understand what the parameters are and why the driver can't invoke it manually. Small thing but a miss in my books.

Here is my sure fire way to get the Auto-Hold function to work every time. 1.) Come to a complete stop. 2.) Let up on the brake pedal "almost" all the way, but not so much as to let the car roll. 3.) Now press the brake pedal back down firmly. This actually takes a bit of practice to get the "almost" part of this down right every time, but it does work. Why this procedure is necessary, is a total mystery to me.

Worked every time on my 2020 C4S manual and current 2022 Targa 4S manual.
When on any incline - clutch in, Push break hard.. Release clutch when taking off, break will release once rolling.
Also on an incline - out of gear, no clutch, push break hard - will do it then as well, but only for 10 seconds.
I use this feature about 3-4 times per day, lots of step inclines where I live.
