Shogunade's 23 Porsche 911 GTS Cab
I always regretted not having an archive of my past cars. I'm posting this for myself to chronicle my journey of ownership and the mods I get done. Feel free to chime in.

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...912d5d5252.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...5e3dcb6f41.jpg Finally home. Was dead wrong it'd be a cakewalk getting her inside an 8ft wide door. Not to self: No more than one beer while washing then pulling her back in. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...07dd695b59.jpg |
First easy mods:
Mandatory clears. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...47702b1a12.jpg OE metal pedals. Before. Sorta. Snapped the pic after swapping put the dead pedal. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...799de9391a.jpg After. Pairs perfectly with the biased lines of the 930 on the doors. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...943d5c9a69.jpg |
Next up: Tint. DIY Polish and ceramic coating. Carbon fiber steering wheel and chrono swap. GT3 side skirts.

eBay key covers. The grey is a bit much but it's fine for now.

Dude. Great post. And what a breath. What a joy it is to pop the top down and drive that baby around with some nice tunes playing. Which sound system did you go with?
I just took possession of my GTS4cab a month ago and every time I lay eyes on her I get a huge grin 😎 I went with agate gray and black RS spider wheels. but I love that Arctic grey. So good. enjoy that beauty!!!! |

Exciting! Congratulations and many happy miles. Nice colors. Get the Zunsport front screen protectors for the radiators and the PPF for at least the front.

I got it for $1k. CAVEAT: I can't vouch for it yet. They do not use an oem frame, so I won't know how everything fits back together until I complete the swap. And IDK when I'll be getting around to it. |

LOL. Absolutely first 'mod' I'd invest in is some garage cabinetry and storage to keep all the xmas decor / strollers / golf clubs / plywood / oars / etc from denting that beautiful machine. ;) |

LOL. Just get the floor refinished with something like epoxy. It will really make a difference.

Ok. Tint set for early next week. Waiting for a good stretch of sunny days so I can get her coated. Factory installed swirls aren't too bad. Hopefully a one step correction with the polish will do. Also plan on doing the wheels and calipers. Will be my first time working with centerlocks.

GT3 side skirts wrapped in CF vinyl. Definitely a five footer. Top edges look terrible from install. Will get it professionally done later. Regarding install, super easy. Just follow the directions posted in the Thread. Committing myself to complete one mod a week.

I would be interested in how you like it (application, use, cleaning, brake dust stickiness, etc.), only because I used CarPro DLux and Gliss on the PCar and literally hate the way it reacts to brake dust, water, and normal driving dust. I used Gtechniq C5 (or whatever it is) for my BMW and Exploder and am pretty impressed with that so far. My experiences have nothing to do with much of anything, just curious as to how you like it rolling forward. : )

Smarttop installed. It seriously isn't that bad. The hardest part for me was getting the two plugs back in. Here's a hack that's been mentioned before: go through the back with the top half opened. Lift up on the back of the cartop and have your hands and arms go under the cartop and work from that position. Sorry. Looks like I didn't take any pics.
CF mirrors installed. As good as I coild get it. Not happy with the bottom inside corners. I couldnt get the clips 100% securely in. It'll do until it doesn't. I followed the instructions from the Fabspeed https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...54fa850837.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...411a5f05c2.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...467c0aef41.jpg Something that wasn't in the video thay surprised me were the strings that were tied to secure the shell in case they fall off or something? https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...dd66be2132.jpg I decided to scrap the center chrono color swap. I tried using a plastic pry tool to pivot out the center housing trim and it left a nice outline of it in my leather dash. Pisses me off every time I see it. So I have a red one for sale if anyone's interested. $50 shipped. |
Removed the CF wrap from the GT3 side skirts as bubbles started coming up. Also had the RGS grilles installed. Wrap shop charged me $50 to install. Done. No brainer after hearing some of the horror stories.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...a632ff74d2.jpg The way it should've came from the factory. |

Great question. I'm gonna have to say a 10. Completely smitten with it rn. Maybe it's like when you first start seeing someone, and they can do no wrong. But I repeat: You'll only love this color if you like the pictures of it when it shows as a blueish hue.
Excited to see the colour in person. |

Just got back from tinting. Went with Tint MD in Annapolis and would highly recommend them. Keith is an old school installer and been doing it since 1989. He let me hang out with him while he was installing and just shot the sh*t. Had me out in about 1.5 hous. They're completely transparent in their pricing and was able to see the actual film coming directly out of the box. I went with Xpel XR Plus. 20% all around and 55% on the windshield. It looks dark when parked inside, but it's welcome. Absolute differenc⅚e in letting in the sun and heat between driving there and driving back

Picked up a used JCR titanium valved center here from a fellow member. Waited for the cargraphics valve controller to get both installed at the same time. Thanks to SupremePower for setting up the group buy. Everything was super well handled.
Well. I really can't discern much of a difference in sound between the stock exhaust and the JCR. It is a little louder for sure, but I can't really tell for sure if the timber of the exhaust note has changed. HUGE caveat: I've never been able to discern sounds very well AND I haven't been able to WOT as I'm still in the break in period. Now the cargraphics valve controller is another story. With the valves wide open with the press of button #1, the change in decibel level is incredible. Best sound mod. I can't imagine an aftermarket cat can beat this. I only got to snap a few pictures: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...d3c767036e.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...40eaa736dc.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...2c09dae6e7.jpg |
Sounds like (pun intended) the Cargraphic valve controller is the product of the year.

I just got done installing the DarwinPro CF lip spoiler. I ordered this one night and it was delivered in one or two days via FedEx in a huge box. It was wrapped to ensure there'd be no damage during shipment. I was gonna wait til after paint correction to install, but I just couldn't wait.
My original choice was their BKSS style ducktail spoiler as that looks the best to me. It would've looked sick leaving the top of just the spoiler in CF and painting the rest body color. But many factors went into my decision to install the lip spoiler. First, their design doesn't address the air flow and all that it entails, such as getting the active aero programmed to not lift. I even went as far as deluding myself to just leave it after install and have it lift. It would've looked ridiculous and more importantly it would've acted like an air brake! And second, I have a cab. Cabs look best when body upgrades are subtle and more refined. Imagine a GT3RS topless? It'd look kinda ridiculous. Anyway, it looks sweet. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...82caf69efd.jpg IDK about others' experiences, but what should've been a two minute install turned into 30. Their supplied 3M tape was janky or something. It just wouldn't hold. I tried putting my weight on it for minutes section by section. Nope. Then I took the spoiler off and put a heat gun to the tape then repeated viceing it with my weight. Nope. I found some 3M VHB tape laying around so I taped that between the two pre-installed strips of their tape along the whole of the spoiler. That did the job. Not going anywhere until I or some thief who also steals split extension cords wants it to. Also, I can just barely see the tip (insert joke) of the spoiler from the rearview in my cab when its fully deployed with the top up. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...1bdd92db92.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...9dcca892da.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...7fa60bd83a.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...ce8d428025.jpg |
Looks great!

While I was washing her this morning I saw some stone chips that cut into the clear guards on both sides. With only 700 miles I'd feel better doing something about it now.
I've been mulling over the black stone guards even before delivery and had them laying around. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...cb5f0c9341.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...84594eb6c9.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...c2a8998b07.jpg DK how I feel about them but I know I dont absolutely love or hate them. They'll be staying on until I figure something else out. Who knows. Maybe they'll grow on me. Install was pretty simple. If you've ever put on a cell phone screen protector it's similar. I just lined up the arch of the wheel well and worked back to front. |
I like them. Beautiful car!
|
That garage should be in an Allstate commercial! Mayhem is waiting to fall onto your new ride! I couldn't sleep at night knowing one breeze will send my car to the body shop. All that stuff is waiting for the right moment!! The 2X4 is just waiting to jump out and kiss that car! If the 2x4 misses the rake or the black pipes will get it for sure!!

Finished getting the front lip, GT3 side skirts and rear diffuser parts that look like lamb chops (anyone know what they're called?) wrapped in CF vinyl by Vvivid Tek R Black Gloss Carbon. Although its a little too purplish in certain lights its the most realistic vinyl out there thats rated for outdoor use. I've researched a ton and would've gone with the Flexishield CF ppf which looks super realistic but it starts to look bad once water gets into them.

That CF film looks excellent! WRT pictures, most people use the standard lens on their smartphone cameras which tends to be a wide angle lens. Choose a 2x or 3x zoom option and step further back. This will use the other lenses that have much less fish-eye distortion and make the pictures look much better overall and your car will look longer and more well proportioned.

As some of you may know I traded in my GTS cab for a TTS cab.
Delivered 11/17/23. Impressive transport time. The duo picked her up late afternoon on 11/15 at Porsche Salt Lake City and got to my house in Maryland by 11/17 around 6am. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...362f08124d.jpg Pitch dark while everyone was asleep in the house. The dealer told me the PPF did not look good and when I saw it in person I knew I'd have to get it redone. Or should I just leave it and go raw? I couldn't. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...0847c67694.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...c14a341aa2.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...23adc550a7.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...54398306f6.jpg Gentian blue is so nice, but my daily driver is a similar metallic blue and so is every other Tesla and there are A LOT of Teslas. So the decision was made and instead of doing a traditional PPF, I was gonna do a color change wrap. Best part is, it was about half the cost of what PPF shops around me like Glaswerks would've charged. I know some of you purists just rolled your eyes, but I wanted to make this car special to me. I was giddy. Let the fun begin. I met up with my wrapper. He showed me samples and a few cars he did. The colors were nice but there was no pop, no glass like wet look. They looked like an unfinished paint job riddled in orange peel. Not even the much touted brand Inozetek whose wraps are said to look like paint. Bummer. Coupled with vinyl wraps being 3-4 mil thick, it wouldn't have offered much protection. And this is why I love Rennlist. I found this thread by Mr. Wolfe and his car looked amazing. We exchanged a few PMs and he unequivocally vouched for the product and confirmed it still looks good as day one. My mind was set. Let's do a liquid wrap. I found a shop local to me that does it. I met up with Ben, the owner of Rogue and went over everything in detail. Great guy and so passionate. Done. All I have to do now is decide which color to go with. You're only limited by your imagination. Spent days looking at colors and just like porn, it spiraled down a rabbit hole where you started with beautiful starlets and by the end you wind up looking at toothless meth heads. I digress. It was too much. I hit rock bottom with Brown Metallic. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...e7231a64fe.jpg I got clean then decided to narrow it down to PTS colors. From there I forced a top five: China Grey, Telestio Grigio, Slate Grey, Black Olive and Brewster Green. It was tough. It was easier coming up with my children's names than this TBH. And the winner is: *drumroll* https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...1ec991c7d7.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...aab42e4308.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...04ffdfe3f9.jpg Black Olive 2A7. I love this color. Here are some pictures of the process. It involved spraying no the peelable foundation then color, clear, flow coat, clear, compound and denib then polish. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...dc31afcc45.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...80f20638f0.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...893e5c1fbb.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...a29d9709d4.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...1ef34f3ba7.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...ac0da86990.png https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...fc8ed08c23.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...cf18c34f02.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...910633dfcd.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...c4ff1370ab.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...25e6e8302c.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...ca2283bc7f.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...c86f9a043b.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...cae962429b.jpg Easily peelable and thick. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...c5e253c6ed.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...56d9d6112b.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...693a401b5f.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...5f54a60fb2.jpg |

Congrats again! Simply stunning. Good call.
|
Wow. Thanks for the pics of the process. Pretty incredible.
Dumb question...are you going to leave the yellow calipers on the PCCBs or change that color too? |

Thats it????? Regular PPF is around there. Wow. I was going to guess 15k+ with that level of work. |

So, how does that rear license plate piece attach to the rear bumper?

Thanks. I wish I could tell you but I've only been able to get maybe 50 miles behind the wheel. Will report back when I'm able to get some quality time.

I didn't mess with the hood. Too much work for not enough ROI. Door jams are gonna be wrapped in black olive vinyl which is a spot on color match. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...fd2a2afc98.jpg |

What do you guys think? The SP3s or OEM wheels?
I'm not really digging the bronze with the black olive. Has an old man in a tweed jacket vibe. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't totally clash with the interior. Ugh. Looks like I may have to change wheels or get these powdercoated in another color. The front offset was way too agressive...haha. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...4e82ae9df8.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...ce9bb466a4.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...0e2a33730a.jpg |
I’m a fan of the OEM wheels.
|
I’m partial to the new wheel but agree it needs a color pop. Gold I think would look good with the green.
Curious they fit well on your previous cab though aggressive fitment, didn’t carry over fitment on the Turbo on the front? |
Kept the oem ones on for now...
The rears are 21x11.5 et50 and will be more aggressive than OEM. The fronts are 20x9.0 et 35 and will be pretty much the same as OEM so not quite as outbound as I'd like. |
