Help with Chrono Color Change
Need a little help/assurance!! I am changing my chrono dial color and am at the step of removing the pointer. I expected it to come off pretty easily using the spoon method, but have used more force than I am comfortable with and no movement at all. If anybody has done this, what was your experience?? Am I missing something?? Picture is from another thread.
Thanks!!

Similar experience changing gauge face on a BMW.
Spoon method didn’t budge pointer. I bit the bullet and pulled the pointer off by hand.
It took way more force than I expected but went back OK and everything worked.
Always a risk - at least it’s not your main cluster.

There are. VIDEO
- When you remove the panel, you will find that the wire for the clock coming from inside the dash is held to the panel frame by a clip that is very hard to remove. If you want to completely remove the panel to do the rest of your work on the bench as I did, the wire is attached to the clip with a plastic wire tie that you can cut.
- The short cut to getting the clock removed is to remove it with the wiring still attached to the panel. There is a hex on the back of the clock that accepts a socket wrench. Turn clockwise and the clock pops loose from its mounting. no need to remove the hood.
- The ring retaining the dial face is difficult to remove. It has 2 mating halves. Work slowly around it with something thin. There are 4 locating pins to watch out for.
- The old dial face comes out easily but when putting in the new one, note there is a groove around the plastic dial center that the inner diameter of the face slips into. It can fight you a little.
Hope this helps anyone wanting to do this. I will be happy to answer any questions!

This is the video I used to get the basics, but this is not a 992. Removing the center dash panel is the same. Here are my learnings:
