I apologize if this was already brought up but I am having an annoying time understand how to get my car to auto lock when I walk far enough away from it. Sometimes it does it on it's own, sometimes I come back to a 992 with unlocked doors and praying nothing was taken.

Complained to dealer, we unlocked the doors, walked away from it, it locked itself after 45+ seconds. What am I doing wrong for it to not be consistent?

This is the only package I think Porsche sucks at. BMW's comfort access is night and day different to Porsche comfort access.

 

Never heard of “auto lock when I walk far enough away from it.”, though it would be cool. Has anybody else seen that work? I just RTFM’d and see no mention of it under ‘Central Locking’… but would love it.

 

Do all 911’s come standard with comfort acces? We where wondering why we can’t get the frunk to open when waving our hand over it.

 

I don’t think it auto locks. It just pulls the handles in. You can still open the door

 

I have to physically touch it and swip my hand back and forth across the bumper

 

My corvette auto locked when the key got out of range. The 992 cannot do this

 

I swear to god this car has locked on its own before, I promise I am not crazy.

If I walk near my car in the garage, it will unlock. If I walk away and don’t open a door for 15-30 seconds, I’ll hear the car beep and lock again. But if I open a door, it will not auto lock itself. Pretty sure the car will not lock itself as you walk away like Tesla and some others offer.

 

My experience is the same as Master Deep. I had a 2019 5 series and I do not recall it auto locking unless it had been locked and then unlocked. The auto relock only happened if none of the doors or trunk had been opened.

To get the frunk to open, swipe your hand from right to left on the top of the front facia below the crest with the key in close proximity. This is a cheesy video that shows the motion. It only needs to be about 1 foot swipe.

It is in the manual. If you unlock the door but didn’t open it, the it will auto lock.

 

Yes, this is how it works. If you open the door it won’t auto lock. Not sure it’s anything to do with comfort access though.

 

I used to have that comfort access function enabled where doors unlock and handles come extended when you’re in close proximity.

only to frequently return to the car in an unlocked state despite clearly locking the car before I left.

turned off this comfort access function and never had the above issue again. I find that this function doesn’t work well at all

 

On your key fob pressing both the lock and unlock button simultaneously (until the red light turns on) temporarily deactivates comfort access. I do that all the time while in/around my garage. Should save on key battery life too.
To reactivate simply press lock or unlock on the key fob. It's also handy while washing your 911...you can keep your key fob in your pocket and not have to worry about the frunk popping open.

 

Can you explain exactly how you turn just this comfort access function off please?
