Default Is this normal under 18-way seats?

Hi everyone,

As I was exiting the car today I kicked what felt like a cord under my seat. I looked below it and found my driver-side underseat cords to be weirdly different than the passenger side.

Is this a faulty install? The cords under the driver's side sticks out much further, and seems to be missing a plastic adapter than is present on the passenger side?
The passenger side cord is much more recessed backwards and doesn't protrude outwards.

Would anyone know what's going on?

18-way seats Driver's side:

18 way seats, Driver's side

Passenger side, red/white cord much more recessed, V shaped plastic adapter between cords and yellow thing.

I don’t see any differences between the right and left wires in the photos you posted.

Not sure. Bigger question is how you found / noticed this?

I'm more curious about how anyone would manage to "kick" that location while getting out of the car - seems like it would require a pretty stylistic dismount!

If both seats are fully functional, I wouldn't worry about it. In fact, I really can't tell from the pictures what the issue is since it looks like both sides have the same type of connector and both connectors are inserted properly.

For your peace of mind, my 18 ways look very similar. Female connector sits more forward on the driver seat than the passenger seat.

Looking at both sets of seat pics I would say OP is good but jfb992 has an install issue 😅.

Thanks. It's weird, I noticed it when I kicked the cord on my driver's side while exiting.

There is an extra V shaped black adapter I circled that is present on the passenger side, but not on driver's side.

The cord which looks like an ethernet cable is way tucked in behind the black plastic on the passenger side, but really protrudes out forward on driver's side, which is why I think I kicked it?

Chairs do work so maybe this is just a fluke? I just found it odd the two sides look so different both with the extra V adapter but also position of the cord bundle itself.

Thanks I kicked my cord when exiting the car and was wondering what it was I kicked..looked under and the cord looked really forward so I wasn't sure if I messed it up or if there is an install flaw..or if this is just how it's supposed to be? I compared to the other side and on passenger side it's way tucked in so I found it strange the two sides are different

Thanks I know it's hard to see so I tried to capture it via diff photos from diff angles.

Visible from the front and side view:
1. passenger side has a V shaped adapter circled in red that is not present on the driver side. (normal? missing piece?)
2. the part where the red/white cord connects (looks like ethernet cable) is protruded in front (anterior/forward/towards nose of car) relative to the black plastic piece above it on the driver's side (which is why I kicked it upon exiting the car). The same cord tip is tucked behind (posterior/backwards/towards rear of car) on the passenger side, making the cord much more protected from kicking.

If you look from the side on driver's side, the red/white cord is the most forward piece under the chair. If you look from the passenger's side, the yellow piece and black plastic piece is the most forward piece under the chair.

I'm mainly asking because I wasn't sure if this is an install error that will later lead to misfunction of the seats. Currently they work normally as far as I can tell.

Yellow is for SRS system, seat airbag and/or seat belt tensioner.
Don't mess with it.

Thanks Fcassells. I was focused on the connector positions, but I do see the wire routing on my seats seems out of sorts. I will see if I can easily move it to the side of the yellow units. If not, I will ask service when I take the car in for switch to summer wheels/tires in a couple weeks.
