Another way to look at it is do you intend to roadtrip the car. Roadtrips will bring uncertainty to the terrain your will come across. One of the reason I ordered it on my Targa was just that. I will be doing long roadtrips and sometimes even to camping lodges. Easier knowing I can go across "any" terrain puts me at ease. $2.7K is a lot of money, but usually with these cars, it hurts once when you pay for it, but after a few months, you forget about it.

Ah yes, @avid ! This guy is incredible, but I don't know many on here who would actually do what he is doing with a 992. The idea of this is pretty cool though

I'm planning a milder version of what he's doing next year.

If I was buying a T, it would be a stripper with no options whatsoever……but that is just me. Your opinion might be different, and that’s OK.

If your front lip is painted, get FAL. If it's black plastic, I wouldn't bother. I've never driven a car with FAL and I lower every single car I've ever owned (other than SUVs) and have never had any problems, but I do scrape the front lip to varying degrees on my lowered 992. Can't really tell by glancing at it because it has a black plastic sport lip, but if it were a painted lower lip, it would look pretty beat up.

This issue has been debated for a long time. Manny threads on the topic.

In a nutshell - It depends on two things: (1) What types of bumps/obstacles you expect to encounter in your daily routine? Only you can answer that? And (2) as AlterZgo pointed out, if you have a color matched/painted lower lip, and you want to keep it looking nice, then you might consider FAL. If just black plastic lip, replacement is a DIY and there is no color matching…so fixing is maybe a few hundred $.

My own experience is that most speed bumps and curb to my driveway can be navigated by carefully angling. However, I ran into a situation several months back, at an airport garage, that sharply dipped as you entered/exited the garage….and there was no way to angle approach to keep from scrapping. If I didn’t have FAL, I was most certainly going to scrape my color matched front lip. So, in just that one case, it was worth having FAL. But maybe this won’t be a problem with your airport, shopping or hospital garages? .

For those who are curious, TechArt makes a FAL kit that can be installed on any non-FAL 992:

@Staff@WORLD sells it for $6500.

Somewhat resurrecting this thread. I'm in the same boat. Dealer suggests getting it on my 992 GTS, but with my 991.2 T I only scraped once and that was in my parents' driveway. Unfortunately the black plastic didn't scrape but the side of the bumper, which is painted. Even then, it wasn't visible and in the end these things happen. I've heard it's now electric and adds 12lbs. For me the extra cost isn't worth it. If I see a steep driveway, I would check first by going straight at it. That's the only way to save the sides of the bumper and see if it scrapes. If it does, I'll back out. But honestly, it's only happened once in my 4 years of owning that car. I wonder if anyone makes a wrap around lip that's sacrificial.
