Steel Sunroof

Yep, exactly.
He may be right, but I looked - a lot - couple years back when building my car, and found nothing from Porsche…but other cars, with similar sized openings, list about a 50lbs difference between metal and glass sunroofs. I suspect that for the average driver, they won’t notice any difference.
As for what an additional 50lbs on the highest part of the car might do to handling characteristics, well, I have no idea…but do know it definitely won;’t help. I have a couple of very serious trackers buddies, and they are always talking about things they’ve done to their cars just to save a few lbs of weight. Both have multiple cars they track, and none of them have a sun roof - glass or metal.
As a side - on cars like the taycan, with the large panoramic glass sunroofs (they don’t open, so no motor), the added weight is closer to 100 lbs.

I don’t believe the base GT3 gets the Mg roof, only the RS models do. If I am not mistaken, the Mg roof can be recognized by the “double bubble” indentation.

There was a Porsche tech write up on it. I will have to locate it again. I dug it up back when there was a thread asserting that it was like 150lbs — an absurd number considering that’s the delta with a Cabrio.

I agree, 150lb is ridiculous. But 25lb seems on the extreme low side of things. 25kg maybe? It would be interesting if you could find that article.

I don't like the way the glass looks, especially on a non-black car.
If I had to get a sunroof on an AG car, I'd pick the metal one.

The glass sunroof makes the interior much lighter and is the only good way to observe the Race-Tex roof lining (if you have it specced).
Just another way of looking at it.

My glass sunroof has developed a squeaking sound that the dealership is struggling to fix. Not sure if that’s a metal sunroof issue too.

Another one of those personal choices, good that Porsche give us that. Me, I like the steel one because I like it open in the evenings or early mornings, and don’t like the look of the dark glass against white. BTW, it is steel and is about the only part of the outer skin which a magnet will stick to.
One good thing about the sunroofs in 992’s, both glass and painted, is that they don’t encroach on headroom. I’m 6’3” and can comfortably sit in mine with a helmet on which was an issue in some earlier series cars.

It shouldn't stop you from getting the car if everything else checks out for you.
