Default Ring Car Cam Dash

I came across this new Ring cam product today on Amazon. It’s compatible with the 992. What are your thoughts?

I’m good on Amazon having a mic and two way camera in my car.

Haha. She's already in your house, might as well let her in your car as well.

Sub needed for useful features and connection to OBD only. Pass.

No doubt. My wife and I stopped at a little out of the way diner we like on the way home from VT on Monday. A guy pulls up on his BMW motorcycle with this interesting waffle-texture (for lack of a better way of explaining) saddle. I comment to my wife that it looks comfortable but I have to imagine it gets and stays wet pretty easily. That's it. No joke, on Wednesday I get a Facebook ad for the very same saddle. Haven't had my bike for years and have never been targeted with any ads relating to motorcycles before that.

That's likely your phone listening to you and giving you useful ads 🤣

I've been looking for a dash cam myself and haven't settled on one yet. Wire management and ease of installation are important for me, and this option seems to address both (at least as far as I can tell from the promo videos).

With that said, the design itself looks pretty obtrusive given its positioning.

Are there any good wireless dash cams? I would rather not have to do a wiring work. It would be more of a novelty for me. Or plug into USB port.

Here's some early review feedback of the Ring dashcam: https://www.rdforum.org/threads/1254...2#post-1808211

They review many dashcams in that forum. This post is a recent comparison of Blackvue 4K models vs, Viofo A139 Pro. The Viofo seems to do very well.

I would go with blackview in the 911. Thinkware is also excellent (I have one in my X5), but the front camera is too large for the smaller windshield on a 911.

"Ring has admitted that they do provide videos to police without warrants or the user's permission. They do say that it's only in "emergency" situations"

Sooooo, spirited runs in "Mexico" are out...

It plugs into the OBD II port.
I'm not keen on having the OBD II port occupied that way.
