Well, you did ask the question if you were being ****, in all fairness.

However, you can still have your cake and eat it, too. As I said, 143K miles and my old GT3 is still in respectable condition. With a little care yours can weather the winters fine. Most important is that you will have the advantage of actually enjoying the damned thing, which is why you bought a Porsche!

Driving it, at least for me, is more entertaining than just looking at it as it sits in the garage. I still do that, too.

That’s just my option, but you did ask. Hell I met a guy that routinely drove his Ferrari 250 GTO ( yes, GTO) in Indianapolis.

Whatever you decide, I hope you have as much fun and satisfaction as I do. Congratulations, my friend!

You could always go visit it at the dealership while you wait.

Salt is fine.

But if it was salt and pepper ... well, then, bubble wrap the thing have it teleported home.

Congratulations!

If you're bothered by the road conditions - hire a flatbed service to get your car home. Otherwise; you're driving it home 3 miles and it'll live in 1 piece to see another day.

You can take any 911, any Carrera, and thrash the **** out of it on a race track. These cars are made to withstand a lot (when properly maintained). Some folks keep these cars for generations. Kid down the street is restoring his mothers targa from the age of dinosaurs or something. And yeah, after a while they need rebuilds and a lot of work, but if you want it to outlast you, that’s not especially difficult

it can take a little salt you wash off same day ….

I understand you. I have friends that trailer (enclosed, not flat bed like a commoner) to the ppf shop in the summer just to avoid possible chips. Others who don't care. I'm both of those people. I've done it both ways. Sounds like you should drive it, then enjoy cleaning it.

I envy people who do things like this, and BTW, I hope to do trips like this some day:

I plan on driving this car more than I planned on driving this car-if that Yogi ism makes sense. Thanks for the responses.

Problem is for men there's only one thing that doesn't get harder with age!
