Default Targa GTS at msrp, depreciation after?

I've got a chance to buy a Tagra GTS at msrp but I don't love the build. Build sheet attached. I have one on order from this same dealership and I just got the call that this is available. Best guess as to what depreciation would look like on this in a year or so? I don't know if I can drive this one almost free for a year or of I'm going to take a good hit ok depreciation.

If you wanted a manual my advice is not to compromise.

You’re going to take a $20k hit.

What do you not like about the build?

Some options I could care less for like the remote park assist. Possibly Burmester.

Besides that?

This is the beginning and end of the conversation.

Yes, you will take a hit. If you love the car, it doesn't matter.

Any annoyances or unhappiness with the build will become huge problems when you feel trapped due to depreciation.

Buy it. Options are fine unless you absolutely hate the colors or had your heart set on particular colors. Only real question is if you'll be ok with PDK. You'll lose the taxes you paid at minimum.

While I am not yet on board with all the Chicken Little “The Sky is Falling” who are - and have been - predicting an imminent crash in new and used car prices, I am not sure you can still hope to buy a 911 and drive it for a year without taking a hit. What that hit will be, nobody can predict with any accuracy.

Those are major compromises, especially the manual. "Act in haste, repent in leisure"-----and there will be plenty of repenting after the initial novelty wears off.

You are going to take a hit on the depreciation. The simple fact that you are being offered a new, in inventory car tells you that used ones are going to be less than MSRP. My dealer had (yesterday) 4 new 911s in inventory. If you can buy a new one at MSRP immediately, why would anyone pay MSRP or more for a used one?

Maybe things will change in the next year, and 911s will become less available, or more desirable, but I that is not the direction I would bet. I would bet on things coming back more to normal-- dealers having some level of inventory and cars depreciating.

Looking to China these days, nothing looks like next year will be normal.

Words of wisdom to be adhered to IMO.
