Default Winter Tire Pressure

Switched over from summer to winter tires today here in Ohio - Michelin Alpin. During summer I run a comfort pressure - approx 29 front and 32 rear. What are your thoughts on winter pressure?
Thanks !

this should help
https://tirepressure.com/michelin-pi...-tire-pressure

32-35 is recommended pressure for most winter tires. I have a CX9 with Blizzaks and run 32F, 34R and live in Buffalo, NY.

I run 34 pretty much front and back.

I don't like going to much lower due to the fluctuations in temp. (I am also in southern Ohio).

So run 33 up front 34-35 rear, on hotter days it will get to 34-35 front 37 back once up to temp, which is still just fine. on colder days it will get to 30 fronts on cold tires and 32 rears with temps below 20 degrees and once the tires warm up they still in low temp only going to move 2 degrees from the cold reading.. That way I am not filling much when it gets cold, so keep them 33/34 range

PA5 Alpins to at 32-38 psi for 20-21 inch, but I’m running the stock 305/30/21 rear instead of the winter down size 295/30/21 on my 4S. This was one of the recommended pressures in the owners manual.

That is a good point - I am running 20/21 summers and opted for more sidewall on the winters at 19/20 on my targa 4S - so I run a tad higher on those than I would as the above poster - at a little less..

If you are running 19/20s go with what I posted... Less sidewall and bigger wheels, go with a tad less if you want.

Honestly with winters you can go anywhere from 30 to 38 and still be ok regardless of size wheel.

Thanks Minn19. I'm running 20-21 also - stock on rear.

Tirepressure is all about to give tire a deflection that wont overheat any part of tire-material, when driving the speed constantly for wich it is determined.
That deflection is made by the combination weight and pressure.

So the comfort setting other settings assume certain speeds and weights on axles.

But if you are able to determine the axleloads for your loading with persons and luggage 99% acurate, and know the maximum speed you use for the situation, and wont go over for even a minute, you can, with
my help, determine best pressure for that.

I can make pressure/axleload-lists for both sizes tires if you give me next.
1.maxload or loadindex
2. Kind of tire to determine the reference-pressure.
Most likely XL/reinforced/extraload AT 42 psi.
Standard load AT 36 psi.
3. speedcode, less important, to determine the reference-speed.

For reference speed and pressure the maxload is given on tire.

Then the determined needed cold pressure is for ambiënt pressure about 20degrC/68degrF. And I have easy list for degr change per psi change here. Then even you can calculate by head acurate enaugh what pressure you must see on tmps when cold or hot outside, and what temp gascoompound in tire has when driving.
