So this stop order probably isn't going away?

Who knows, but it doesn't look good. Folks in the GT4 forum are reporting issues with orders yet to freeze. I had LED PDLS+ in mine but thanks to a nonresponsive SA, I endup with xenon. Still ok, but I'd like at least the LEDs.

I have a 992 Targa 4S and a 718 Boxster GTS 4.0. Even with the Porsche DNA, these are awesome yet somewhat different cars.

I really like the throttle response and the 8k RPM motor of the BGTS. Being rear wheel drive, it’s a little easier to break loose compared to the AWD Targa. But it’s also small and maneuverable.

With the Targa, it’s a little more luxurious, the turbos provide nice grunt. However, I would say they are equally as fast. The manual shifter on the Boxster is tighter and more positive engagement. The Targa shifter, while nice, is just a bit looser. I do wish the BGTS had a seventh gear, with other gears being slightly shorter but the gears are still good. Some will complain they are too long.

LWBs have always been an issue - I think particularly so on the GT4 since the GT3/RS is nakedly prioritized by Porsche. They were on stop order when I did my GT4 back in 2016 and out of nowhere became available long enough to spec.

I had a 718 GT4 for a year. Amazing thrilling car that was an event every time I drove it and everywhere I took it. It is not by any means a daily driver, too low, too loud, too wild. Completely different feeling than a 992 911.

C2S.

GT4 is a great car, but between the two, a C2S hands down.

Have both, 992 C2S and 718 GT4. 992 is a brilliant daily driver but that's it, doesn't feel special in any way, blends into the crowd, and are dime a dozen. The GT4 is the car I drive for fun, it's everything the 992 is not in terms of feeling special, driving experience, rawness, sound, handling, the lot. It's also loud, low, and feels agitated at low speeds. If you only have one car, I'd lean towards the 992 otherwise GT4 all the way. Base 911s (including the S here) have gone the way of the 3 series and become too large, soft, refined which is all well and good for a daily but not if you're looking for more.

Oh, I misunderstood! Sorry. I have both. If I could only have one, it would absolutely be my Spyder. The 992 GTS is certainly a more “well rounded” car in that it can be flogged on a back road and also be comfortable on a long trip, but the Spyder is far and away the more exciting, visceral, single-purpose sports car.

Are you paying an ADM?

You might be getting close to a preowned GT3, which would be an unequivocally better performing car than any of these options.

I’ve never driven a GT4 and am pretty new to 911 ownership. My opinion, as limited as it may be; if you can do it, get both. If you’re limited to one, then the 911 seems far more usable (albeit still limited) as a daily driver.

A GT4 seems like a good weekend car, or point A return to point A car, or track car. I’m not sure I would want to live with one for the average daily commute with the typical stops at Costco and the mall and such along the way.

A 911 is a like a well tailored navy blue suit with a thread count of Super 150. Versatile and appropriate for nearly all occasions depending on how one dresses it up with accoutrements.

A GT4 is like a custom make 3-piece tweed suit with a windowpane pattern. Not exactly suitable for every occasion, but lots of character and panache.

The Cayman is pretty capable for all of those tasks. The frunk and trunk + area over the engine are pretty handy vs. trying to cram stuff into the back seat area of the 911 + frunk. Depends on what you're buying I guess.

I have both. 992 GTS and 718 GT4. Have flogged both in the Mountain twisties {TOD, Cerohola, etc}. The GTS w/RAS is surprisingly as agile feeling as the GT4, and I dare say maybe more fun.
The squat and go turn exit with turbo torque is intoxicating. 992 is preferred DD, w'end escape with the wife. GT4 is more raw and visceral.

Lots of track time in GT4 and zero in 992, so really can't compare. Sense is GT4 would be preferred on track.

If i could only keep one, 992 wins. As another poster said, trade both for a 992 GT3. Agreed, as I'm presently on that mission.
