My GTS has full PPF with original stone guards removed and covered with xpel. I like look of no seams on the fenders and the full coverage it gives. But after only 1200 miles that area where the original stone guards were is pretty beat up. I know that area takes a beating on these cars but having a gentian blue car you can really see them, especially in the sun. I was wondering it the xpel softer than the original Porsche stone guards? I was also thinking of putting a second black stone guards over the xpel if thats possible. Just not sure how that would look with the gentian blue. Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

My installer puts a second layer of film right in the stock stone guard location. Same film in my case but you could go black too. It does get beat up, but can be changed out much more readily. Personally, the scars on PPF don't bother me. But I'd definitely recommend another layer of film there simply because the film can be punctured by sufficiently large debris.

My detail shop has been booked nonstop ever since COVID and I couldn’t get an appointment slot until 2 weeks after picking up my 992 GTS.

By the time I went in I had 300mi on the car and already a rock chip on the front bumper right below the trunk and can’t help staring at it every time I get close to my car.

Next time getting PPF done before driving home.

Ceramic makes the car paint shine better and easier to clean. It’s a no brainer.

I might be the outlier here. I never do PPF but just Ceramic Coating. My reasons and many of you may disagree - I don't like to see any film edges, I don't like that on many colors it dulls/changes the paint a little, and I have seen cars whose PPF was taken off after 5 years and it did damage the paint when taking it off (depends on paint quality underneath and Porsche OEM paint is very soft). I simply have my front bumper repainted if I need to and I do not care if that is frowned upon because the paint is not "original". I can have it repainted multiple times for the cost of a good PPF. I do consider the rock guards on the fenders though as I don't want to repaint the fenders often. Its a car and no matter what you do it will get signs of wear and tear over time. If I get a scratch, I can mostly buff it out.

IMO full car PPF is way overkill. I have the front end wrapped and mirrors wrapped as well as the classic black stone guards on the rear. It's done its job and, it wasn't anywhere close to 6k. You can even buy a pre-cut kit and install yourself. It'll do the job, but won't be as pretty as a professional PPF with tucked corners. Like other said above, it's a car. Ita going to get pelted by stuff inevitably. Don't let it drive you crazy.

I got full PPF (Suntek Reaction) and full ceramic. I've had my Targa 4 since December. It's my daily driver and has over 7k miles. I wouldn't drive without it. PPF gives me peace of mind. Ceramic makes cleaning and detailing easy. I have the necessary CarPro products to keep the ceramic going. Being in SoCal, I just took my car back to @MoeMistry for a full PPF and Ceramic checkup. All the edges were great and smooth. They did a very detailed inspection and cleaning (inside and out). My Dolomite Silver Targa 4 looks perfect. Without PPF, it wouldn't. If that's ok, then don't get it. But if you want peace of mind, drive your 911 frequently, and plan on keeping it longer than a couple of years, PPF makes sense. And get the exoshield for the windshield too. That has saved me from replacing the windshield when a rock flew up and hit it while I was stopped at a red light. Random stuff happens. I didn’t wrap the last one, and I didn’t wrap this one. I prefer the look this way. It didn’t affect my resale price at all, after 30,000 miles… Also, I have to say that I just love driving this MT GTS, such a blast!

I have a coupe. It’s one large single piece from the rear quarter panel to the A-pillar. The door is a separate piece as it’s an opening door. The roof is also a separate large piece from the top door edge. Sunroof is not done at least in very hot climates. The doors are also one large piece with the seam hidden right behind the mirror. At least that’s how my installer did mine.

I hate ppf. I’ve had cars with it with paint chips and without it with paint chips. Not worth the hassle in my opinion. I think the only time you should use ppf is on carbon fiber parts where a chip can affect the weave.

Bought a CPO black GT3 Touring that had full PPF. There are some downside - in bright light you can see some edges, but the paint is flawless and that just would not be the case otherwise. Not on a flat black car. I’m a believer - in my opinion it’s worth a few thousand on resale at least, especially on a black car.
