Default Blown Rear windshield

I have a 2022 992S S. The rear windshield exploded while the car was parked safely inside the house.

I sent the car to the dealer and they refused to replace the damaged glass on Warranty.

It is so obvious that the window has exploded (look at all the corners in the attached photos). Also, i heard an explosion-like sound

has anyone experienced similar issue?

Regards

Blown up from inside

All corners has been damaged

Cracks on upper conrners

I have never seen or heard about such an event. How did the dealer think this happened and not be a warranty issue?

Is this the lightweight glass option, or standard? Guessing by standard (due to defrosting elements)?

What state are you in? In NYT (and a handful of other states) zero deductibles on glass is available and in AZ and KY, it is mandatory.

They think it must be caused by an external factor (a rock or something). Which is not true as i heard the sound when it happened and i have a CCTV in place.

Google seems to have lots of results on this phenomenon. Common thread seems to be that there is some initial damage, unbeknownst to the owner. Over time, conditions change sufficiently (even thermal changes due to weather) to cause sufficient stress to the glass to cause the shattering.

Good luck, and I feel for you. What a PITA, but at least didn't happen on the road and scare anyone into an accident!!

I live in Saudi Arabia. Here, Insurance would cover this with zero deductible as well.
My concern is how this happened and if someone has experienced similar situation.

This is my first time to experience such thing. I have other cars were parked at the same place

I have heard of sunroof glass spontaneously breaking due to manufacturing defects. This has been an issue for years.

Sounds like something similar going on here with your back window.

I would fight hard to get this covered and file a complaint with NHTSA

Yet another example of Porsche refusing to cover something reasonable and relatively inexpensive under warranty...

Sorry this happened, OP. Hopefully you can get it resolved quickly.

Thank you.
i agree, thanks to God that it didn’t happened on the road.

This is really strange. The car is a 22 model and it has around 2K miles only on it. Also, we have already passed the (really hot weather conditions)

Thank you Zachr. It seems that porsche is not doing any efforts on customers retention.
