I'm getting a bit frustrated with the Porsche dealer. We put a deposit on a GTS in August of 2021 and were originally told that we'd get a build slot in the summer. The latest update is that it will be well into 2023, and it appears that we are just getting pushed out on the list. Every time I ask for an update, it seems like there are still 8-10 people in front of us. I realize that there are all sorts of priority rules for prior buyers. As I have a good friend who is being offered GT4 RS's and Sport Chronos and seems to have no issue getting ahead on the line. The dealer also offered to bump me on the list if I bought a watch or e-bike, which just lowgrade pissed me off. I don't need those. I just want the car. What is the play here? Should I pull the deposit and shop around? This dealer is in Norcal, 2 miles form my home. My intro to the Porsche world has been pretty disappointing so far. It is MSRP, so there's that. The markets are also turning, so I'll be interested to see how the next 6 mos play out.
It is obvious that you're being bumped, and allocations are given preference based on trade-in and such. Don't buy any of those dumb things like the bike or watch.
The car is cool, but not that cool. Just wait for the economy to go kaput even more. I heard today that the 24 largest banks are holding one quadrillion in CDS.
When I took delivery of my @ MSRP GTS 03/31, my SA said the wait had lengthened to 2 years. I waited 8 months with a prior dealership relationship however, my allocation was granted in the first round here in the US (November 2022).

I had to buy my first Porsche (718 GTS 4.0) out of market and had to shop for the allocation. That was not easy for a first time Porsche customer but I found one at MSRP. It was messy. The current 992 market is tough for a timely MSRP purchases unless you are a VIP customer. I opted to pay an ADM so that I could obtain a timely GTS allocation (start to estimated delivery approx. 6 months). I touched base with over 6 dealerships, including the largest Porsche Dealership in US (LA); 2-3 year wait for a GTS or pay the ADM. It is a personal decision and Time is the variable at play. If you can wait, the benefit is that you can get a 992.2 and it will be at MSRP. If you are guaranteed an allocation for the cost of a watch.....that is a low ADM for a timely purchase. Suggest you contact other Porsche dealers in your State to understand the market further. 718 production should be moved out of Stuttgart next year and that may loosen allocations. Good Luck.
A watch is what ? 6k ? Idk correct me if I am way off , but I think that’s the ball park.
At least you would have something to show for your $$ instead of a straight ADM into thin air.
pulling your name off a list for what ? To join another list at another dealership? I think a watch is a pretty cheap entry fee given the madness out there.
2 yrs for an allocation , wait , economy will crash wait , and wait and wait .. 992.2 .. wait for that because NO ONE will jump you on THAT list with their trade ins and preferred status .
after a while chasing just becomes bad for your mental health…
I had to work out a deal for my car that benefited the dealership and I was fine with it all , probably cost me the total of a watch .

You have a compounding problem like many of us. Only a few GTS cars trickle in each year even to the bigger dealers. Demand is high. You may not be getting bumped, it could just be that very few cars are being allocated. You may have a quicker allocation with the S but even those are 1+ year out at my dealer. I’ve been #3 in queue for 4 months now. My dealer charges a small ADM but won’t muck with the queue.
I had my name on ‘the list’ since May 2021. Every time I would go into the dealership to ask where I was on ‘the list’, it would always change. I called Porsche North America and asked them to investigate this highly suspicious list and why my place kept changing. Within a couple of days I had a case manager from Porsche North America reach out to me, they made a call to the general manager of dealership and I magically got their next GTS allocation at MSRP. I tried being nice to the dealer for 15 months but was simply not effective. Fortunately my method worked for me but you do run the risk of damaging the relationship with the dealer.

Very good. You shouldn’t care much about your relationship with the dealer. They jerked you around, and trust me,they don’t care much about their relationship with you…
I was looking at the deposit slip the other day. I first time I went to the Dealership was in March of 2021. Then put a deposit in April and got an Allocation in November, put in a build in December and got the car build and ready for pickup in June. Did the delivery in August. This was for a GTS that was not even announced back then and supply chain issue was still pretty bad and I was a first time buyer, plus I asked for European Delivery during one of the busiest time (summer).
You got in the list about 3-4 months later than me. Sounds to me like you are being jerked around. The dealership definitely got more than 10 allocations for a GTS. But who knows. You don't even have an allocation yet or the word of it. Tough pill to swallow. On the other hand I have been on a waiting list for C8 at a dealership which has a pretty open book policy, they even have a list online. That is how they do business down here I guess.
Good luck man, pulling your deposit will just put you at the bottom of the list. If you can wait, wait it out. Bug them every now and then.. also, shop around while you do that.

this method is very tempting...might do the same too..

If the economy tanks, how do you know the OP will still have the means and/or desire to still purchase a GTS? Even at a discount to MSRP.
