Interior panel by rear windshield fell off?
Hi everyone, long time lurker! I just took delivery of my car a few weeks ago and it's an absolute blast.
I recently noticed this panel fell off and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this? (I tried searching for similar topics in this forum but couldn't find anything, apologies if there have been multiple threads on this that I just couldn't find)
It looks like the plastic holding it together melted? Or broke off somehow? I tried "snapping" it back in (without too much force) and it just comes right back off. Am I missing something or is this thing actually just broken?
Here's what it's supposed to look like

Very good chance, and I hear the clips are broken easily if you don’t know how to do it correctly. Fortunately, my shop did, as they had to redo the rear window because I wasn’t happy with some dust specks. No rattles, no sounds 🙏 thankfully.

I have removed and replaced that panel several times on my C2S in order to add sound dampening material to the sheet metal there and elsewhere.
Your panel has been broken by someone who is ham fisted, impatient and ignorant of what they were doing. Broken the way it is, it sure didn’t leave the factory that way and if it had, it sure wouldn’t have made it all the way from Germany to your garage without having fallen off several times. I also seriously doubt a tint installer could get to the bottom edge of the window without removing this panel and/or prying it away from the window in a fairly significant way.

They use rubber edged blade (squeegee) to go through the bottom edge of the rear windshield.
Anyway...my car will arrive at dealer Nov. 2nd., hopefully can pick up the car before Nov. 15th. Will take some photos when I go for window tint film installation !
( just to find out how they really work on that area )

If you look closely, it looks like someone tried to "melt/plastic weld" two of the prongs back on for a "get you out the door fix". That is why it stayed on for just a little while. I'm just guessing, obviously.

Do you think I'll need to replace both the panel that has the carpet on the outside and the metal part that it is supposed to mount to? Or is it just the clips on the carpeted panel that are broken (i.e. the carpeted panel is the only thing that needs to be replaced)?
