Default No analog tach

Any thoughts on this for the 992.2? I personally think this is a pretty big miss... The floating analog tach on the 992 is such great piece of design that maintains the 911 heritage.

On the one hand Porsche can now make cool special effects happen on the dash like other manufacturers when you change modes.

On the other hand this is real life not forza so....

Skip from me

(Also there is another thread for this)

The entire 992 instrument cluster and dash does a great job recapturing the heritage of the 911 interior. It's nice that the gauges are fully round and spread out. Instead of nested like on the last few generations. While I like the physical tach as well, a digital one in the current design language doesn't bother me.

Even though I can't see the outer 2 gauges, I prefer the separated gauges as opposed to overlapping. Also prefer the analog tach.

That being said, nothing will ever come close to the original:

Analog gauges would be a cool option, bet Porsche could charge 10-20k and still sell plenty of analog cars

I am glad we've finally moved on from the "Braun shaver" PDK meme ...

Had to make room for bigger and more important things. Or smaller and more important.

It looks like their solution to unblocking the outer gauges is to mount the steering wheel upside down.😉

LOL I am probably one of the biggest proponents of the Braun shaver PDK shift lever. Com’on guys you have to admit it’s brilliant and Porsche could sell thousands of them. I for one would love to be able to have a quick touch up on the commute home so that when I arrive and kiss my sweetie she feels my handsome but smooth face.

this .. was a nightmare world we had entered into

Might as well replace the shifter with a double edge safety razor right? Smooth as can be, about the same size

Step in the wrong direction IMO. And the edge ‘gauges’ being blocked by the wheel does not bother me much on the 992.1

I prefer analog gauges in my cars and flat panels in the airplane.

I am glad that my 992.1 had an analog tach, but nothing that I own right now has analog gauges and it’s totally fine.
