Deposited 7/16/2022, when is my delivery?
Hi I am a newbee here,,,,
My SA says at time of deposit, 16-18months until an available order slot?
Do you think it's accurate?
What's your thoughts? For 4gts.

No one knows the answer
why:
no one knows when Porsche will get their act together and return to normal production across all Iines including 911
Demand seem to be high now but slowing economy, higher interest rates will affect demand .
Also it varies by region of the country . Wealthier regions of the country like Southern California, N. Virginia will be more immune to economic down turn
having said that , I can make a bald prediction that your wait will not be 16-18 months . Dealers across all brands currently still under the influence of high demand fog and long waiting lists .A lot of these will disappear with time as a chunk of high demand is artificial .
keep monitoring this site to get a feel on the market and for faster allocation you might have to look around and luckily for you, plenty of dealers within short driving distance

Id be tempted to wait until Spring 23 to order a GTS and be in with a chance of bagging an early 992,2 when they are released in early ‘24 ish probably. There won’t be a hell of a lot of difference, probably 20bhp more and facelifted lights and bumper config but still preferable over taking delivery of a model that’s already outdated on the first day you drive it out the showroom. That’s a reality for many customers but a nightmare to be avoided for me personally.
Im not sure of the most likely timing for release of the 992.2 variants as it isn’t something that affects me personally but if I were ordering now I’d be researching the 997 & 991 release timelines and trying to make a best guess of when the GTS release will be, counting back 12-18 months and timing my order accordingly.

The way it works is... your dealership you gave a deposit to only gets a certain number of actual built car allocations. So you are on, what sounds like, a very long list of people who hope to get one of those allocations in the next 1-3 years. You could try to find another dealership in the US who has a shorter list and get on that. Or try to find the car you are looking for as used with a CPO warranty and stop the waiting.

Some dealerships take deposits when they have no allocations and if they get some preferred customers will get them, not you. The right thing to do is get your deposit back and wait until there are plenty of allocations and you will be able to get one.

I would get your money back and tell them when you get an allocation I'll give you a deposit. 2nd if they are a small dealer you could be waiting many years. Many equals > than 2 years for an allocation. I've seen it first hand with friends buying cars in small markets. Ask the dealership how many cars they sold in a year prior to Covid. If it's less than 400 find another dealership!! 400 total units not 911's. North of 600 units and you've got a dealership that's' going to get you a good allocation! IMHO

I put down a small refundable "deposit" down nov 21 for a c4s. No relationship. Received a build slot in August 22. Should get the car December/ January. Was originally told 9-12 months from demand order to delivery. Ymmv.
Edit: my wife popped by a different local dealer randomly to check out a cayenne. They said 24 months for any 911. A macan or cayenne allocation is available now.

When I picked up my GTS in March my SA said a 2 year wait for new GTS orders (mine took 8 months with an established dealership relationship).
SA also said they were refunding GT3 deposits since the allocations are so slim.

Good thing about this dealership they didn't take any deposit to put my name on their waiting list..currently number 4 in wait for a gts.

For what it's worth, I've been working with Bethesda as a first time customer and it's been great so far. I just came back from our Euro Delivery trip that Bethesda had offered me.
I placed my name on the wait list back in November 2021. They told me the same that they do not take deposits until an allocation comes in for me and we agreed at MSRP. I was 5th in line. Estimated time, 9-18 months.
In January 2022, I got a call from them. 1) They said I dropped down to 4th place in line and 2) they had a surprise Euro Delivery allocation (summer build) asking me if I wanted it. Seeing how slowly the wait list was moving I took the ED allocation.
Fast forward to the present, our ED trip is complete, had a wonderful experience with my car in Europe, and now it's making its way here to the States. I'm expecting it to show up sometime next month in October so all in it will probably be around 11 months from start to finish.
Can't say I'm surprised to hear your estimated 16-18 months. I would wager it may be less like 12-18 months.
Behind Bethesda, I was going to work with Porsche of Annapolis. It's smaller with a smaller wait list at the time and the people were great!
