Default Valve stem caps

Lost one of my valve stem caps on my 21 992. Does anyone know which ones you can order off Amazon - there seems to be many many and not sure if you need special ones

you literally can buy any. I bought the Porsche caps from Suncoast. Nice little touch to have the Porsche crest in same color as wheel center cap on there.

Thanks - Have you had any issues with the color caps? I read that for some people the colored tops fell off.

no issue. I have them for a few months now but to be honest, put them on finger tight and never thought about it again.

You, sir, are living a good life if you have as one of primary concerns the valve stem caps on your car, and specifically if the colored tops my fall off.

Well done in life. Good on you.

If you buy decorative aluminum valve stem caps be sure to coat the threads of the valve stem with anti-seize. They will seize over time otherwise and can be extremely difficult to remove without tearing the rubber stem. For that reason, I personally only use the plastic caps.

I have always preferred the stock black plastic caps. If/when I replace them, it is always with the cheapest black plastic caps I can find. See below, a package of 20 from Amazon for $3.99.

Aluminum caps on Brass valve stems starts an entire dissimilar metal corrosion process.

Don’t take my word for it….read all about it right here.

Don’t forget to change the air in your tires each time you replace valve caps. I’ve heard the Antarctic air causes the least damage to the tire beads and stays fresh the longest.

Had that exact problem on my old 996 with one of the valve stems. It was like it was welded on. Tried EVERYTHING to get it off, even soaking it in Kroil in a plastic bag...Nothing. Had to cut the valve stem off. After that plastic only for me.

I'm also in plastic valve stems camp (gray or black depending on the wheel color). I have also experienced the dissimilar metals corroding and fusing to the threads of the TPMS -- never going through that again.

FWIW - The old school valve stems without TPMS are generally brass and do not experience this corrosion.
