GTS day by PCNA
Hello,
I thought I shared an interesting sponsored day at the track. Likes lot of us here, we know that those so-called Track days when sponsored are very limited, but I thought it would be prime experience to try several GTS models.
First was a Taycan, restricted to the auto cross. It is fast and can handle far more than it should with a Land Rover weight but this is nothing new.
Macan GTS at the track. With all season tires it was an unsettling experience because the car carries a lot of speed but it doesn't hold that well around the bends. The same model with summer tires was far better than I expected. Still not my cup of tea, but it drives closer to a car than prior models I had as loaners.
Cayenne, GTS. The V8 sound alone is worth the experience. The brakes are really good for a car that size, perhaps even better than what I tried on the Macan but the Macan brakes were a little bit shut and there was a lot of deposit on the rotors. The car accelerates brutally turns not so well as expected but breaks and goes really nicely. I would have it as a second fun car. Note that I only drove it with summer tires. I would not have it with those in the Chicago area as I already deal with my car's tire swapping. If that's not an issue, definitely the way to go.
911 GTS - I've had experiences with the GTS model at the Alabama track with the 991.2, I had the 991.2 and 992 (the last one C4S) and also drove the 991.2 GT3 and RS at the track. I could compare the prior generation GTS to an improved S, but this car is closer to the 991.2 GT3 than it is to the S model. I see this car as a very good track car while the 992 C4S unfortunately was not (for me at least, mine was a cab-not the ideal combo). The suspension, brakes and the power of this car makes it a very nice package and I would really compare it to the GT cars (I have not driven the 992 GT3, some say it's closer to the prior RS). It gives me an itch to actually get that car instead of a Spyder that I have coming in, but I'll wait to drive that one. The GTS4 was not as pleasant but so much better than the C4S I had, bearing in mind I had AP racing brakes, SRF fluid, tune, sport cats and akra exhaust.
All in all, not a bad day. My personal GTS would be a manual w/light package. Not much else.

I'll get some pictures here soon as the link is available. Shark blue looks good on a 911 GTS
Also interesting that the cars had different types of seats. I would still choose 18w if buckets are a no go (I still have some use for rear seats)

Maybe the Cayenne GTS you drove did not have RSA and no PDCC ? Do you know ?
Let me tell you that mine had both this options and it handles close enough to my '15 GT3. Not exaggerating at all. Blown away by the performance of the truck.

Nothing against the performance of your truck, which I'm sure is really good; but I don't buy that it handles anywhere close to your 991.1 GT3.

Although if you read carefully my previous post I said " it handles close enough to my '15 GT3 ". Do you know what I mean ? It means a go kart could have the same feeling. Or a mini if you want.
The GTS ( or the Turbo GT if you want) sticks to the ground like the GT3 does. Or very close. That does not make it as fast than a '15 GT3. Simply has a very similar steering feel with no lean in curves at low and high speeds. I can throw it in the curves just as I did with the GT3 at reasonable speeds.

Three Wheelin'
I traded the GTS Coupe for a Turbo GT. A lot faster. Same handling pretty much. Worse sound. I prefer the GTS.

Race Car
I had a 2004 Cayenne S. Even my friends commented back in the day, with 2 of them in the car, that the car had no lean whatsoever. It didn't even have PDCC. The Cayenne GTS coupe and Turbo coupe are awesome cars for the money, IMO.
