Ordered a coupe despite my love of openair driving.

Compared to the 991, I thought they tamed the hump in the 992.
Below is my 992S and my previous 991.2.

Sunroofs are under-appreciated on this forum. With the sunroof open and both windows down, the air movement in the car is very similar to a Cab or Targa-- and so are the engine sounds coming into the car. Does a sunroofed coupe provide the exact same experience as a Cab? No. But arguably, 70 or 80 percent so. I love the lines of my coupe and wouldn't be happy with the body of a Cab, so I find the sunroof perfect for that handful of days each year when the weather is glorious "convertible weather". One final point: comments in other threads about the sacrilege of cutting a hole in the roof of a car and ruining its handling are nonsense if you are driving sanely on public roads. I'd wager that not one person in a thousand could actually perceive the difference in the seat of the pants.

I honestly can not understand why anyone would cut the roof off a perfectly good sports car. The laws of physics simply can not be violated! Ugh, such sacrilege, so unfathomable.

I’ve had all configurations described. My first P car was a 930 cab followed by 3 coupes (‘87 Carrera, ‘98 C2S, ‘97 C2), then a ‘13 Boxster S (which I would probably still have if it had a back up camera stock). Also a ‘15 TT coupe with a glass sunroof and a ‘16 Boxster GTS. Then a ‘17 Targa 4S followed by 2 more cabs.
My thoughts:
1. Glass sunroof is a waste of time as a sunroof. It opens about 4” BUT it does make the cabin much lighter. If I ever ordered another coupe, I would not get a sunroof.
2. I really liked both Boxsters but my wife found them too small. I like traveling with my wife more than any one car. But, I would happily order a Spyder or GTS 4.0 otherwise.
3. A cab can pretty much duplicate a Targa with windows and windscreen up but Targa can never duplicate a cab with windows down.
4. I considered another Targa this time but C4S cab allocation was available when I traded. Visibility much better out back of Targa.
5. If you add SmartTOP to a Targa, you can move at up to 4mph. Convertible superior there at able to put top up or down at up to about 30mph. Both easier than Spyder.
YMMV.

That is the reason why my last 3 Porsches have been Spyders. Also I prefer the visceral feel of a high revving NA to turbo. I probably would have sacrificed the open top for the new GT3t but I couldn’t get an allocation at MSRP.
But I agree the shape of the 911 in hardtop form has been sports car perfection from inception to the latest 992. I prefer it to the 718 cayman whereas with convertible the inverse is true.

And I agree. As a coupe, the 911 looks best. As a convertible, the Boxster/Spyder look the best.

911 Cabs have always been an eyesore.
The Spyder, on the other hand, is pure eye candy.

If you prefer top down driving like I do, you will regret this decision
Its not about how it looks. Porsches already don’t look all that special or exotic. It’s about how you feel when you drive it.
I loved driving mine top down. Nothing beat that for me
