Finally got the call for 992
Hello all,
After putting my name down 8 months ago for a base 992, I finally received a call from my local authorized dealer a few days ago that I can go in to finalize the build this week to receive the car in Q1 of 2023.
The question I would like to ask everyone before I confirm the build is since 2023 would be already the 4th (or 5th?) year of the current 992, since I've already waited this long, would it make more sense for me to wait a little while longer (perhaps 6-12 months longer from when I will receive the car?) for the 992.2? Of course if I choose to wait, I will be one of the first names on the list at my local dealer for the 992.2 so I would pretty much get it right away once it launches. What does everyone think?
Thank you.

Get the ‘23 and trade it in for the new one…whenever that happens (despite what anyone says, no one knows).

992.2 will certainly be better to some degree .
but the same will hold true for the next generation
so it can become an endless waiting game
get it , and in couple of year if the changes are drastic , you can trade in for a new one
Disclaimer: I change cars frequently , like every year so I don't worry about next model

You may be one of the very first ones in the 992.2 list for now , but when the car actually is announced the customers with 992.1 trade ins looking to move up will bump you, the established high value customers will bump you, in an environment of constrained supply you will end up on the wrong end of that list.
If you have been on this forum for any amount of time reading the posts about waiting and lists , you know you better take the current allocation offered.

Stating the obvious: (1) The 992.2 will change, slightly and (2) Will cost more money. You can take an educated guesses about what those changes might be, and the added cost, but won’t know for sure until you have decided to pass on the current opportunity. At which point, it will be too late to go back.
I say, Carpe Diem, and get what you know, now.
Finally, and I always get a chuckle from people that constantly drone on about how their car is the “best”, the most perfect Porsche, blah, blah….I get a chuckle because whatever they get, will be yesterday’s news, tomorrow.

But once the 992.2 launches, the next generation will be out in a year or two.
Stop waiting for the perfect girl, and enjoy every ride.

I assume with the newer 992.2, it also likely comes with new gremlins. I think the decision heavily depends on how longer you are willing to wait as 992.2 is probably two years away. Plus, higher $$$.

You will get bumped without a trade.
I jumped ahead of several people solely because I had a trade and they did not. My SA told me they were told by Porsche to stress getting trades in lieu of new car inventory during these difficult times.

I would take the allocation without hesitation. As others have mentioned, can trade into a 992.2 if the upgrades are substantial enough.

Take the allocation, never know what tomorrow holds.
