Thanks - appreciate your information. I checked on the Transport Canada website and there is a recall but it only shows MY 2021 to 2024.
I may pursue it with them as well.

Hey, did you get any resolution to this? I had no idea this was an issue until a piece of my seal came flying off on the 401 yesterday. I have a 21 with an extended factory warranty (4+2) that expires in June 2027. Not sure if the additional 2 years is called CPO but I did not buy the car as a CPO car

If this is not covered and costs $3500, are there other options? People are saying its cosmetic so if that is the case why not 1) just remove it and leave it alone or 2) remove it and put a different type of silicone caulking in?

And yes, I know its a Porsche yada yada but seems crazy to spend $3500 (who knows what it costs in Cda) and if its purely cosmetic then why not seek alternate remedies??

Cheers

Consider this: it is purely cosmetic...at this point. If a rubber/silicone seal starts to fail in visible locations, it may be fair to assume that will ultimately lead to total failure and who knows what that looks like. I'd get the issue remedied, but I'm conservative when it comes to my toy. Then there is the hassle at hand. When mine was failing it would contaminate my drying microfiber towel after a wash and would smear onto the roof. Regardless, I wish a simple and cost efficient solution.

Thanks. If it can lead to a failure somewhere else then I wouldn't consider it cosmetic . The least hassle would be scrape and replace with a $5 tube of silicon

I would not do that. The proper seal comes attached to the glass. Or so I was told by my SA at Porsche.

I changed mine, including the windshield, in my previous 992/year 2021 under warranty at the dealer. They are aware of the issue and took them couple of days to complete

This is not covered under any extended or CPO warranty, however it is covered under the orginial 4 year / 50K mile warranty.

It's not a sealant, the entire windshield and gasket has to be replaced. The gasket material is incompatible with the windshield glass itself and Porsche specified a new compound for the gasket to remedy the issue. So, the glass has to come out, and the gasket, and new installed on both. New glass / new gasket. That's why it's $ 3,500.

If you have glass coverage on your car under your insurance, and happened to have a cracked windshield down the road, then your insurance would cover it.

I recently bought a 21’ Targa. Out of warranty, but with a CPO. My windshield seal is a mess. Dealer said no way that they would cover it. Looks like I’ll have to wait for a rock to hit it and replace it under insurance (recommended by the dealer).

Then its not cosmetic. Here is where conflicting info comes into play. It certainly does not seem to be part of a bigger gasket. It came out very cleanly as a bead of caulking. Is there a TSB or something where Porsche has said that the glass must come out as well? I will check with my SA as well

From my SAWe will have to schedule an appointment and have inspected. Of note this will 99% not be covered under your Porsche Approved Extended Warranty:

It will be at the discretion of Porsche Cars Canada Ltd. once the inspection is completed and photos supplied.

No Resolution. Dealer says there are no open recalls and as Transport Canada bulletin only lists the problem from 2021 onwards I'll have to wait until I catch a rock.

Actually the Porsche VSP did cover it on a Taycan recently.
