I’d swap my 911 for a C8 Z06 any day

Those lists are just lists. Everyone gets on a list so they can tell everyone they’re on a list for xxx car. When they get the call, suddenly they need to check with the wife and are never heard from again.

OK, today in the WSJ, a welcome article says chip supply has finally exceeded demand and chip prices are falling big time!
And the US $Dollar is finally almost reaching parity with the EU € with no end in sight for the soaring US $ and the dropping EU €.
It is hightime for Porsche to lower US prices and increase allocations to the USA!
Or Porsche is dumber than those huge stone faces on Easter Island!!

The main reason a 911 is my go to sports car is because it’s got a back seat and all wheel drive. Off the top of my head, the Audi TTRS and Nisan GTR are the only other sports cars that fit that bill.

Both the Vette and 911 are aspirational purchases for many folks that buy them.

However, that's where the similarities end (and begin).

The same people who aspire to own a Vette (or Z06 or ZR1 trim) are not the same folks who aspire to own a 911.

Not making a judgment call on either groups of people, just stating that they are different.

And for those folks who do not purchase these cars as aspirational goals, very few (if any) buyers decide that the 911 is too expensive and then walk directly to their local Chevy dealer. Just. Does. Not. Happen. They go to a Mercedes or Audi dealer, maybe nowadays a Mclaren dealership. But Chevrolet? No.

Likewise, a Vette buyer (who is not an aspirational one) does not walk out of a Chevrolet dealer thinking, "damn, that's just not the car for me," and then walk directly to their local Porsche dealership. More likely destination is a Ford or switch to another offering on the Chevy lot, the Camaro.

Yes, yes, there's going to be cross-sectional buyers, no doubt. But those are few and far between, and really amount to nothing more than a rounding error.

When the Z06 drops it’ll be a 200k car. It’s not GMs fault either. That’s what the consumers will pay. I don’t have enough chest hair to drive a corvette so I’ll keep my 992

Between this comment, the Burger King comparison and the “aero puke fairy” comment, I have been truly ROFL. This is prime entertainment…..

I know I’m supposed to appreciate the Corvette because of its value and performance. But I don’t.

I don’t like that car. The old ones looked cool, but the ‘vette has been corny for awhile now and the new one is ugly.

I think my appreciation for the aesthetics started and ended with the C6 ZR1. It is just not an appealing vehicle to me at all. The C8 is one of those cars I dislike the more that I look at it. At first glance, and in less flashy colors, it looks kinda cool, but then the proportions and Transformer-esque appearance kill it for me. One of my Sergeants has one in that copper-brown color and I just can’t get into it.

Everyone who is willing and financially capable of aquiring a C8 Z06 will get one as they have with every other generation.
My comment was based on my experience November 2021. I was on a list for a GTS at one dealer, but the SA texted me and offered a GT3 winged allocation for $50k ADM. Previously, he told me there were over 30 on the list a month prior. I'm a first time buyer, zero history, and not a celebrity except to my kids. When I stopped in to chat the next day, they showed me the GTS list, and there were two people ahead of me. They said to give them a few days to try and contact them, as neither would answer their given phone numbers, and finally said it's mine if I want it.

It seems Porsche buyers may be more concerned with looks and image than performance and driving dynamics. I could care less what people think of me because I'm driving an "ugly" car. If it's fast and fun to drive and I can afford it I will consider any car. Like Jeff Gordon said when Chevy aske him what color Z06 he wanted, he said "it doesn't matter, they all look the same from the driver's seat"!

Nah. I just won't compromise. I want both performance and looks.
