I'm with @CodyBigdog and waiting to hear what the desirable changes are from the OP. Oh and what the "reduced value" will be for the 992.1 models.
Is it just me or has this been beaten to death on every other thread the last few months?
The thread's value doubled with @PCA1983 's pictures! That is a really awesome P-Car!

Enjoy your 992.2 and your GPFs. Unless you get a TT/TTS you are likely not getting a Hybrid, and that still most likely won't show up on the 992.2, rather the 994. So your .2 upgrades will be GPFs and a completely digital cluster, along with some other minor refinements, possibly include the exhaust configuration and probably some revised wheel options and color variants.
On the one hand it would be easy to blame the fumes from the cleaning products.
On the other hand it may have some merit.
Porsche seem to have (to me) adopted a model of making significant changes to either aesthetics or mechanics. Aesthetics at new generation models with similar mechanicals. Then new mechanicals at facelift with similar aesthetics.
My money is on 992.2 having significant mechanical changes. And why I’m planning on buying a final MY 992.1

In my opinion, the only reason you would wait for a 992.2 is if you already owned a 992.1. In that case..it totally makes sense to wait.
All kidding aside..time is not a luxury that exists in supply chain shortage 2022. Anyone who really “waits” for a 992.2 could be completely soul crushed by delays caused by who knows what. If you want a 992…get it now or as soon as you can.

What makes you think you'll be able to get a 992.2 allocation in time before the 994 is introduced?

Not unique to Porsche by any means. The US emissions regulations for 2025 models and going forward, make a GPF almost a guaranteed necessity for high performance gasoline cars to meet the particulate standards.

Agree. I also do not consider the addition of gas particulate filters (which will be required in US like required in Europe now) or the 6% price increase for basically the same car as upgrades. But, that’s just me. Others may feel differently.

Life comes at you fast. No one was predicting the pandemic back in 2019. The invasion of Ukraine was a mere hypothetical in 2021.
There’s a lot of hubris in the concept that inflation and recession will impact other people and not yourself. If it’s bad enough to have such a mass impact and reduce 911 demand, your own buy decision will likely be affected. If you aren’t affected, there’s a bunch of other rich people that you won’t be affected either.
Given the rate of inflation, model year over model year price increases, waiting for the price to get higher doesn’t feel like a smart buy. People who waited for MY2023 are paying substantially more the same car that people got in 2022. That’s before we even get to interest rates which increase the cost of acquisition for most buyers… and those making the poor decision to lease.
(sidebar: for leasing folks, the party will be soon over, because the option to buy at the end of the lease is disappearing across the board. Too many people discovered that they could profit buying the car at the end of the lease and flipping it. So, read your terms carefully)
The most dramatic improvement with the 991.2 was that the GT3 got a manual. There wasn’t a lot of upside beyond that unless you wanted to experience Porsche’s first stab at turbocharging the Carrera. We don’t have a lot of details for the 992.2, but it loses the analog tach and will have updates to address more stringent emissions requirements around the globe. It will probably be a mild hybrid in Carrera form and performance hybrid in TTS form.
I don’t see anything worth waiting for. Plus, you’re another year closer to the 994. You will enjoy a shorter window where the car holds its value. Potentially, much shorter if enthusiasts deem the 992.1 as the one to have.
For those of us who are older and can nearly count their remaining summers on their fingers and toes, there is only so much time on this planet. Those of you who are younger may not yet appreciate the reality of mortality, but this is a finite experience. If you have the means to own one now, do you really want to go another year without one? When the year is gone, it’s gone.
Having lost several friends to the pandemic and a friend to suicide during the height of the pandemic, I am not waiting on anything that I want and can afford.
