If inflation turns out to be 8% for a full year, you aren't getting sticker if you get sticker, you're getting 8% less than sticker. Unless you replace it with a new one that's 5% more than the prior sticker. Then it's 5% less than inflation adjusted sticker plus any mark-up so maybe 5-20% less than inflation and mark-up adjusted sticker. The point is with current inflation, last year's or an earlier year's sticker isn't all that relevant.
