Sport Mode is the only mode with Backfire mode!

No. 911’s are one of the toughest cars around, period. The various modes of operation (normal, sport, sport+, wet) are all ‘normal’ as far as the car is concerned.

I drive in Normal just until she warms up so I don't have to worry about the PDK choosing to run the RPMs up over 4K. Then its Sport (or Sport Plus) exclusively.

If the 992 is anything like the 991.2, the oil and coolant temps will be suppressed in Sport and Sport+. Perhaps someone can confirm.

Unfortunately I can't answer your question but Normal Mode definitely suppresses the Fun Factor IMO.

Yes, in Sport and Sport+, it shoots for lower temps.

Confirmed. I drive in normal to get the oil temps up to speed and its Sport mode thereafter. Watch your engine temps at highway speeds at Normal vs other modes, there is 7-10 degree difference.

Normal mode exists, and also why car defaults to normal mode, is for Porsche to get the highest MPG rating during their CAFE ( corporate fuel economy ratings) testing. Manufacturers pay large fines for exceeding the company goals. It’s also why car always defaults to stop/start on as Ratings were disallowed if car would permanently default off as in most 991 series.
It is NOT where Porsche wants you to drive the car, just where MPG testing is higher.

If you like to match your revs it can be argued that normal is more fun than the other modes. For manual transmission, obviously.

I do not think my car has ever been driven in normal mode, sport or sport plus only.

Agreed. Normal mode doesn’t kill the car for me whatsoever.

I only put mine in normal mode if I am on the interstate. I wish there was a way for it to default to sport mode when I turn the car on.

In MY22, you can disable the rev matching in sport/sport+ separately from the drive mode. That said, I leave it on.
