March of 2021 I gave a $2500 CC deposit and got an allocation for a coupe in July of 2021 - picked up the car in December 2021.
I just gave the same dealer a $2500 CC deposit for a cabriolet allocation - hoping to take delivery sometime in 2024.

Not sure of the average, but youre really concerned about the loss of return on 5k? Untrustworthy dealer...totally get it. $500 to $1k returns (if youre lucky)???

Thankfully I wasn’t required to put down a deposit at all. I am probably an outlier though.

5k deposit on my CC. Fully refundable. Order cancellable up to delivery, without penalty. That's pretty standard and reasonable. And how much money are you going to make on 5k anyway in a year? Dealers need a modest deposit on an order. 5k is modest, especially in relation to the car's price.

$500 refundable, per allocation (so for me $500 for GTS, $500 for GT3). I put in my build last week, and had to put another $2000 down.
So total, $2500 once your build slot opens.

$1,000 refundable deposit to have my name put on an allocation list in February 2020. An additional $9,000 non-refundable deposit in April 2021 when I built my GT3 and submitted order.
Prior years, I built custom orders in 2005 and 2013 with simple $1,000 deposits. Paid for the cars when delivered the following year in the spring.

$10,000 to get on the list, theoretically non refundable. Got an allocation 6 weeks later and car was delivered 6 months later.

0 deposit on 992S & GT3T with order MSRP when the cars came in.. Anyways in CA dealers cant keep a deposit if you back out, mine never bothers. carl
