Couple of shots from my trip up to the Tail of the Dragon this morning!p
I've stopped at that spot by the lake many times after a good run on the Dragon. You can pick up Foothills Parkway just down the road on the right, another nice ribbon of asphalt.

Foothills Parkway is nice! I went left (after trying – and failing – to keep up with an 675LT on the fast side of the dragon) and drove the Cherohala Skyway, then caught wolf pen gap on my way home. A solid day of adventuring! My knees weren't thrilled with the arrangement by the end of the day but I have no other complaints after 9.5 hours behind the wheel.

You did do some driving! Such wonderful roads throughout the eastern TN, western NC, and northern GA area. Another fantastic one in NC is Wayah Road between Hwy 19 near Topton and Hwy 64 near Franklin--it runs by beautiful Nantahala Lake.
