hey guys
got a black gts on the way and have been debating on doing a stealth PPF on the car
but i have been told that it is thick and doesn't go around sharp edges
ideally i would want it done before i take the car home
dealer told me they can get there guy to come there and do the job dont know if i trust a mobile job what are your thoughts on that
if someone can help me with some pictures of jobs that have been done on there cars
to help me with this process
i know its not gonna cover 100% but will it do close to 95% of the car? if not more ?
You cant tell much by pictures. I would locate local shops, and physically go in to look at their work. Thats what I did.
I looked at an RS6 a few weeks ago done by a high end shop, you can see all the seams, but it didnt shop up in pictures. The seams are necessary though, as you dont want the wrap tucked where it meets other body panels. The rubbing will destroy it.
I originally really really wanted a stealth wrap. When the time came I went to the best installer in my city and took a look at a Turbo S they wrapped. I could see all of the seems and it honestly looked really bad. They said they dont remove lights or tuck edges, so it was an easy decision for me: No Stealth.
If there was an installer in my city that could wrap the seams I would have loved the stealth look. Went with a regular wrap and cant see the seams at all.
Saw this Turbo S in Stealth Wrap at my dealer. It was better in person than in the pic. Then the GT3 at a cars event hosted by the same dealer group. I've wrestled with the same question but decided on gloss > matte (for me).
Here is my GT3 T - The original owner did the stealth wrap (it is originally Agate Grey). I honestly am not a fan, and will be removing mine sometime this winter. However I have seen a white one on the forum and thought it looked good.
No problem with the edges, etc. It is all about the installer...
I like the stealth in some cases. But as mentioned above, you need a top class, no expense spared install. There really cannot be any seams or any edge that are not completely wrapped/tucked. It is 100 times more noticeable with the stealth product.
A stealth wrap will definitely attract more unsolicited Dodge Challenger race proposals on the highway. Not what I'm going for. But have fun with it, however you decide!
