It is nice to have the car however you are a step ahead of me. The timing didn't workout with the ppf guy by my dealer so I had to drive it home andschedule the job locally. It doesn't go in until 6/20 😔....so until then it's this....

We definitely should get together though. I need some break-in miles!

Kind of funny. You should come to
Columbus on June 5, massive hypercar car show in town.

scientists have a name for it. The placebo effect. And it’s RAMPANT on this forum.

I’m not sure what helper springs would feel like. The TTS handles better than the C2S, IMO, but the ride is not firmer. If anything it’s smoother (possibly a PCCB thing). GTS likely has a firmer mainspring which could be part of it. Helper springs keep the mainspring under tension when using a longer body and shorter spring and the suspension is unloaded. Normally not an issue unless the car is on a lift or, I suppose, with aggressive driving on undulating, hilly roads?

LWBs probably make a bigger difference than any one item on the GTS. Those significantly increase chassis feedback.

I would agree that 30hp in a 400hp+ car is not much of a difference.

Do S owners ever stop telling themselves that their trim level is just as good as. GTS.

And all of the differing features, are features they don’t want anyways.

Not the point. Porsche has done a wonderful job positioning GTS as some sort of mini-GT3 when in fact it's a souped up S. Just like an S is a souped up base. None are better or worse than the others, just different.

I’ll agree with this.

One thing that will (maybe) get me flamed here…

The cars are only as good as those driving them. There are many that can afford a GT3 that shouldn’t even be driving one. But, income allows them to do so….and good for them.

That said, a Carrera S is faster than a GTS or GT3 or Turbo S in the hands of a capable driver.

For those that can’t decide which performance level to get, consider your abilities first.

Most people are spec'ing center locks BUT standard RS wheels in the 5-lug configuration are available. I hate the stock center lock design and so I went with the RS. You can see the wheels on my build here: https://www.porsche.com/microsite/po...px?c=/PNCX93I4

Arriving in July. Now of course I'm second guessing as they will be a main to clean. I have the turbo wheels now on the base Carrera (pain to clean). Should have done center lock then went aftermarket.

I don’t think that the S->GTS is enough of an “upgrade”. Sure, if you had some regrets on your build, spec’ing a GTS to write those wrongs makes sense. If you already have an S, meh, it’s a lot of money going across the table for not much lift.

If I didn’t already have one and was ordering a 992 today, I would go GTS over S providing that the price delta was simply MSRP price delta. If the dealer demanded some serious ADM, I’d probably go hunting for a TT/TTS allocation, which seem to be easier to come by than a GTS allocation in this environment. IMHO, it’s silly to drop TT/TTS money on a GTS, but plenty of people are doing it.

I seriously contemplated trading my C4S up to a TT/TTS, but in the end, I couldn’t rationalize the spend for an experience that was so similar behind the wheel once you get past a couple hundred horsepower tacked on. Other cars and other experiences to buy.

The reality is, everyone that has a base Carrera, S, or GTS, simply can’t afford a Turbo S, and we say everything we can to justify the one we ended up with.

that’s a general assumption and not entirely true.
I am from Canada and I purchased S close to MSRP however used turbo s with mark up is almost twice the cost of my c2s. It simply doesn’t make sense. I also have a GTS with manual and bucket on order because it’s the closest thing I can get to a GT3. It will also hopefully build better relation with dealer so eventually I can get a Gt3 allocation

I don’t see how a GTS is in any way shape or form a mini GT3.

Different motor, transmission, suspension, aero.

And you proved my point, we want the Turbo S, just can’t afford it based on our ratios.
