Default My 992 C2 build

http://www.porsche-code.com/PN2LBTY4
Looking to get my first 911. I plan to use it as a daily driver and occasionally I'll go on track. Any feedback is appreciated.

One note about the sunroof - Firstly I don't like the glass sunroof because it destroys the front look. A black top frame just looks weird to me. Furthermore, I don't think I need a sunroof because I rarely open it on my current car. Should I get rid of it?
Any other comments are welcome too.

Edit: V2 build based on everyone's input in post #20: http://www.porsche-code.com/PNI8IK17

Get the options you want. That said, the non-glass sunroof is a good compromise.

Agreed - you probably have great reasons for all the options you’ve selected. I generally find people who select various options love them, and those that don’t never think about not having them, so can’t lose either way. I have a MT so no automated cruise, and don’t have surround view or lane change assist either, and haven’t wished I had them in the time I’ve owned the car. That said if I had them I’d prob love them and tell you they were critical.

I'd add the wheel center caps for $190 and Premium Package. At least with the latter choice, you'll be getting a better stereo and headlights for about $1500 more than your build choices.

Realize that if you ask for an opinion you might not like what you get . On the other hand I did give your car some thought and here's my take on it.

1) The wheels are TOO silver . I played the middle with a darker wheel that isn't black.
2) I hate sunroofs . Its added weight in the center of mass of a sports car. One a Macan or Panamera its fine but I still hate it . On a 911 .. no way.
3) I hate ACC . In fact I feel most Porsche technology is overpriced and inferior . I recently bought a Macan Turbo off the lot that has it . The other night the car jolted me by slamming the brake and displaying. "collision warning" on an empty road . I have NEVER even turned on ACC . Do a search ... this happens to a lot of people. it SUCKS !!!

4) I saved you money !!!! Plus its a naiver car IMO

Afterthought .. There tis one thing that I did consider but didn't do it .. a clear tail light . I feel that yellow and anything red.reminds me of McDonalds logo . Its kills the Carmine with ceramics on a GTS promo car and does even worse ro a yellow 992S with red calipers . If I have yellow the rede has to go .. but I left it .. to save you money and because everyone interprets colors differently

The silver wheels look out of place. i would get the bose radio if you plan on listening to music at all. If so get it with the premium package for the best value.

mhm, I think you answered your own question so not sure why you have the sunroof in your build in the first place? Btw, I love the glass sunroof, use it often, and very much like the black glass roof look. I guess you would not like a CF roof either then? I think the metal sunroof is wasted money. So, choose either glass or none. JMHO.

+1 on all of the above thoughts!
I am curious, what is the OP's *second choice* color? Yellow seems somewhat limiting because you can't really go the Aurum route with wheels, and the McDonalds factor which is quite a factor IMO.

My two cents - I’d do either the standard Carrera or Carrera classic wheels. I think they look better against the yellow. Also recommend the premium package. Not sure I agree about the glass sunroof ruining the look. And even if you don’t open it you get more light into a dark cabin interior.

Lots of opinions here, the only one that really counts is yours. It looks like a pretty good spec, the essentials plus a couple of items to make life easier day to day.

I think its more cost effective to order the premium package - get all the individual items you selected and then some at lower cost. On wheels - its a very personal choice butt think they look fine what you selected.

Just one note: don't save on seats - you sit in them every time you drive the car. The 4-way are probably fine but if any upgrade from what you spec'd, I would think about these.

I have a yellow Cayman GTS with silver wheels ... often think about painting them black, but silver does look quite good in person. Don't think there is a bad choice, just what you like. The Carrera Classic Wheels are a good compromise, a bit of silver but not too much.

One thing to think about is the upgraded leather interior; I vastly prefer a leather dashboard as it is in my line of sight. If it's not important to you, then don't bother. If you prefer the leather, just remember you will look at it every time you are in the car.

I have a similar build but in Chalk. I also think the wheels look too silver, and you should do the premium package.

Kudos to you for being bold on color. Don't listen to these guys and get the wheels you like. Personally I hate black wheels so glad you didn't go that route. But I do think the Classics would look a bit better, and not so bright.

As to your options. I chose no sunroof for the reason you said, I wanted all body color up top. And felt if I wasn't getting glass I didn't want the weight or something I really wouldn't use.

As to other options, I would save the $$ on the sunroof but upgrade to all leather interior. The delta is a little more but you will want the full leather.

1. Full Leather
2. Wheel upgrade ?
3. Drop the glass.
4. The Premium package.
5. Drop ACC
6. Add Racing Yellow Belts.

The reason I suggest dropping the glass, is that it is sometimes a stop sale item and could affect your ability to get the car, but more importantly if you have a unrepairable chip in the windshield and must get it replaced, it is my understanding the replacement windshield can be harder to source and you could be waiting on a new windshield for weeks or longer. For that reason my SA advised against it.

I did not get the Premium Package because I did not want the PDLS+ or the Surround View or LCA or power folding mirrors. But you have like 6 of the items in the package a la carte. For $1,060 more you get the Bose System and the PDLS+ lights. There IS value there.

I would drop ACC. Save the $2k. Drive the car. Don't have it drive for you.

And I added the seat belts in Racing Yellow because it is fun and looks cool. Came out near your original build price.
