MY22 or wait for MY23?

The ONLY reason to wait for a MY 23 car vs taking a MY 22 car if you can get a late production allocation for late spring/early summer is for any stop sale items that start up again.
Most notably the Aerokit. If that is on the top of your wish list and you get an early MY 23 allocation you could likely get one. You won't get it on a late 22 as I believe they are not adding it to any more 22s. Each year they limit the number of Aerokits that are available and they tend to sell out.
Of course if you are getting a Targa or Cab that is not part of the discussion anyway. There are a couple other options that sometimes go Stop Sale but that is the biggest one, and AFAIK the only one that is artificially limited by Porsche rather than supply limited like the Lightweight Glass.
As far as MY 23 to MY 22 changes, there will be one or two, but PCM 6.0 debuted in 22 and that was a big-ish deal that won't come again for some time so you don't have any disadvantage in a 22 v 23 as the PCM won't get updated again soon. And you likely will pay more as everyone has said for a 23 for essentially the same car. I don't think I would have cared to pay $2,400 more for PCM 6.0 to get a 22 vs my 21. And I don't recall what other options there were that changed. I think I could have gotten the ability for a roof rack w/o having to get the sunroof I didn't get, but I don't see myself ever wanting that anyway.
Um no. The 992.2 will either be MY 2024 or possibly even delayed until MY 2025 due to other factors.

For a MY23, you’re waiting to pay several thousand more for the exact same car that Porsche was selling in MY22.
As others have posted, the 992.2 will be MY24 if Porsche sticks to its regular refresh schedule. Given supply chain issues, even that is not a sure thing.
My personal takeaway from the pandemic is that waiting is stupid. Life can be a lot shorter than you can imagine. Economic and market conditions can change dramatically.
A Porsche 911 shouldn’t be a protracted delayed gratification exercise. Waiting for the car to be built is enough. Why add to the calendar?

I am in this situation currently. I ordered my Targa 4S back in November 2021 and just got a call this week that I can expect a September delivery.
I was weighing the options to wait for the 23 but was told by someone who covers Porsche to take the allocation now if I can get it (especially on the Targa).
Like others said, life is too short. I want my car

Just got an email saying someone backed out on a ‘22 Targa 4 GTS allocation and it’s mine if I want it. I have a demand order in for a Targa 4S but this is, reportedly, the only 911 this particular dealership got for July/Aug builds. Sept/Oct delivery. At this point, I’m leaning to taking it, even though I was going to be happy to save ~$10k by going 4S over GTS.

IMHO, you made the right call. I also wanted a Targa and chose the GTS because of the added HP and torque, since the Targas are the heaviest of the 911's anyway. Build locks in 18 days with delivery at the PECATL in early September -- just in time to enjoy Fall with the top down (partially)!
