Looks to me like a bunch of new bodywork, new suspension and who knows what else. Def not a parts bin special IMO.

And, even if it is, the porsche engineers know how to put parts together to make a kickass package, a la Sport Classic, Carrera T and we’ll see what comes next.

If a Dakar is a parts bin special, then all the 911 variants are too.

This car is proof that people with money will buy anything just to say they did.

I read it is revealed in LA on the 17th…so called my dealer and signed up for one yesterday. It is the second 911 variant I ever wanted Porsche to build…the GT3T being the first and this whereby a 911 I could drive all year round - salt and snow be damned - and feel good about it. Not to say you can’t throw snows on any C4S and have a blast, I just never had the resolve/ stomach to hear the salt and salt gumming up the wheel wells - car all dirty…but this Dakar package ..the dirtier and saltier the better in my mind.

Why do you think salt will be any less corrosive on this model? And snow? In snow I would rather drive any other 4 variant (with proper snow tires) since the higher COG on this car will actually make it worse in the snow - both cornering grip and stopping distances. If you are talking about enough snow to make clearance an issue, the Safaris is still quite less than ideal for those conditions.

You can call me Porschetradamus....on the call of them creating all of these final grail cars and dropping the "standard GT4's....ok...probably obvious now.
