Default Need help with 992 GTS Premium Package VS. Premium Package w/ Park Assist

Hi everyone! I have never owned a porsche before so all this new to me. I have built this car over 100's time. I tried to youtube and google the difference in both the premium package. Just trying to justify if i need the park assist. is there anything else on this package that makes the price worth it?? I have built this GTS at almost $170K trying to keep it down if possible...any help would be great!! Thanks so much in advance! I still have a few more months before the frreeze date.

I’d skip the park assist.

Cool party trick until the party comes outside to see what your car just hit.

Unless you will be parking in a spot where you can’t ingress/egress the driver’s side, you can do without park assist.

One of the great things about a 911 is no blind spot . I don't even like surround view on a Macan . Is the car a coupe pr cab ? A first time buyer got a slot for a GTS this late in the game ?

LCA helps you with blindspots. The surround view is just something to help you park. It's a skippable option on the 992.

My 17 car was the first 911 I had with LCA . That means 2013, 2009 . three 07 ,05 , 02. 00, 96, 95 ALL lacked it . I never felt compromised without it . In fact I dont mind LCA but feel its a form of laziness (dependency) . Surround view is useless . I can't stand the cameras on any Porsche . They have improved from downright awful to mediocre . I guess I am very old school with technology . I still remember the 1970's . No one had this stuff then . There were seasoned parking attendants who could drive down ramps in reverse faster and with more precision than the average driver. No LCA, No park assist, some of the cars didnt even have mirrors.

technology marches on without you, then. surround view is fantastic, easily one of the coolest developments in cars from the last 5-8 years or so. necessary? no. But still nice to have when you’re pulling up to a curb or something.

park assist isn’t that useful though unless, as others mentioned, you regularly park somewhere that you can’t get out of the car normally once parked.

I recommend "Surround View". I use it all the time when parking. No need for "Active Parking Assist" (or whatever the self parking feature is called). Besides that, I recommend LCA (Lane Change Assist or "Blind Spot Monitoring"). At least in a Cabriolet this a helpful feature as visibility is constrained with top up.

I optioned the remote park assist because it gives the cross traffic warning when backing out of parking spots or reversing in general. I have a 992 Targa so I think it has a larger blind spot due to the bar. Not sure if it’s worth the money but after having done 9000 iterations on my build on lock day I was like I’m less concerned with the budget increase than I am with feeling like I missed something I wanted. I have tight single garage doors and a right entry garage so I enjoy the surround view for added comfort while parking.

Surround View is included in the Premium Package, you don’t need to select Park Assist to get it.

its for a coupe gts. and yes, first time porsche owner. i inquired early january this year and was told i had 12 people ahead of me. but got the call a few weeks ago saying my allocation was set for june freeze and october delivery. i actaully only have driven the porsche 911 twice and it was for very short periods of time. id say less than 10 min each. but i can say this, porsche is amazing! cant wait to get it.

If you’re built to a budget you don’t need park assist.

Congratulations !! This will be quite a special first Porsche indeed. My first 911 I never forgot. I barely could afford the car at all. It had no options and it was 1995 . The car had manual seats , little wheels , and leatherette interior . I loved that car !! Its quite easy to go overboard with the menu of options . The good part is that you have time to figure this all out . I spent weeks on the configurator even now to hit my final build. Its a process and by no means easy. If you really like tech gadgets its not going to break the mold to get it . Pick what you like and I am sure you will reach a point of having some closure on it .Try to pin it down in advance of the lock date . My car locked 9 days early so that's in the cards . Hang in there and the next few months will just build on the excitement . Once again .. congrats !
